Stayed one night in this hotel and worked all the next day in a hotel suite, eating breakfast and lunch. This is a strange hotel. It is a historic building which has been totally modernised and decked out in black and white: everything is either black or white. It is clean, comfortable with free wi-fi, and a laptop in the room. The huge park across the road is a definite plus.
I arrived at 8pm and thought I might read in the bar if it was quiet. It was not so much quiet as morgue-like. There was no one there at all, including behind the bar. Reception said they would radio for a barman if I wanted!
The room-service menu was very limited and hopeless for someone like me that can't eat bread. Breakfast was more than adequate with good service (although they don't know to make tea with boiling water). Lunch was delicious although we were the only ones in the restaurant. This was a good classy hotel and the staff were excellent but absolutely no atmosphere. I would not rush back.
My client paid and I have no idea of the rate.
