We found this hostel through TripAdvisor and just as those before us said, this hostel offers the best value for money for any budget minded traveller. It locates three blocks south of La Latina metro station and is minutes walk from the surrounding sightseeing places. It is situated in a very multicultural neighbourhood, though it gives the impression unsafe, it is quite safe and convenient. There is an industrial graded laundromat just outside on the adjacent street. The hostel is very clean with modern fixtures and accessories. Bed is very comfortable. Bathroom and shower is very clean, 4 stars clean but minus the space. Strongly recommended!

I visited Madrid for the first in August last year (the oldest date the system accepts it's October 2012!), and when I was looking for a place to stay I didn't really want to spend too much. The THC Latina had a very reasonable price and good location so I decided to give it a try. I have been to different hostels before, this one is nothing like the places I have seen so far. It is a little gem in a quite corner of the center of Madrid, the staff very helpful, the room very clean and luxurious, nothing negative to say about it. i would suggest it to anyone that is planning on going to this beautiful capital.

THC Latina Hostel is an excellent value. Our rate fluctuated depending on the night, but overall it averaged about 59 euros. I was actually a little nervous given they identify it as a "hostel" rather than a "hostel", but it is indeed the latter not the former. The rooms are very well updated and what you see on the website is in fact what the rooms look like. There is no common areas in this hotel, but that is partly why the cost is so low, I'm sure. The bed was the most comfortable we slept in during our entire trip and I love that they use duvets with duvet covers rather than bed spreads/comforters. Each of the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you need a hairdryer, all you have to do is ask. Our room (#6) was small (which we expected in Europe), but after peeking into some of the other rooms, it appeared that there are in fact some that are larger. So, if you would like a bigger room, then you should make sure you specifically ask. Also, I would recommend asking for a room at the far end of the hall. The hotel isn't that large, but those rooms located closest to the reception desk seem to get the most noise (whether guests coming in late at night or the night attendant using his phone). So, if you are a lighter sleeper, then a room at the furthest end of the hall would probably be best. La Latina is a more normal/working class area, but it is very close to all of the tourist attractions. It's basically a straight, less than 10 minute walk up to the Plaza Mayor. Also, if you are arriving via the Atocha train station, it is less than a 10 minute taxi ride (less than 10 euros) to the hotel. If coming via the airport, then I would look into booking the Aerocity Shuttle. Cheapest car/shuttle service I found and far less than a taxi. The hotel can be difficult to find the first time due to a lack of signage and small streets, but just follow the directions to the address and once you see #1 you'll notice the small "THC Latina Hostel" sign posted on the interior side of the doorway. Because La Latina is not a touristy neighborhood, there are many inexpensive little places to eat. We ate a couple of times at the kebab shop just around the corner to the right - it was delicious and cheap. There are also several little bakery-type places where you can get a chocolate croissant for breakfast and several little cafes if you want a coffee or something more substantial for breakfast. Our favorite bakery was located a couple blocks down to the right (past the kebab shop) on a corner across from a larger cafe. I can't remember its name, but it is a small place with lots of freshly baked goods. They had the BEST chocolate croissants of our trip (only about a euro too). Overall I would highly recommend THC Latina. It may not be in a touristy area, but it is very close to these sites - particularly the Plaza Mayor. Also, it is wonderfully updated and clean as compared to many other hostals in Madrid. It is an excellent value with a very helpful staff!

Our stay was very nice. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, modern and comfortable. They are very small rooms though. There is also no lobby or communal space. When the room is so small it'd be nice to sit in the lobby, use the wifi, and plan your day. Great location in La Latina, everything is very walkable. Overall nice stay.

I was hesitating between 4 star hotel and this hostel. Mostly because all the reviews were so good (you can hardly find a place with all 10's!!!),I went for THC Latina and absolutely loved it. It was a small room, but very modern and excellently cleaned every day. Both receptionist were very friendly and helpful. The location is 15 min walking everywhere, plenty of nice places to eat, shop, do tourism. Great for the money spent.

Summary: neat rooms, modern design, friendly personnel

NOTE: it was a bit hard to find it, so check out the map or take a cab first.
Do not get disappointed when you see the facade of the building, inside is cool.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are nice

Yes, the rooms are small, but very modern styled and cozy - much better than a 3-star hotel just down the street I used during a earlier visit. And this nice little hostel is right in the heart of La Latina close to the metro station La Latina and a great place if you want to experience Madrid for real. It's a bit hard to find at first, since it is in an appartment house, so look out for it. My room (double room) actually had two of those cute small balconies, so you can watch the life on the streets if you want. Apart from that it's clean, completely secure and the staff was very helpful and recommended things to do, restaurants, best sights, etc.
I would definitely stay there again.
