This is one of the nicest parks in Madrid, especially if you want to go a day out with the kids. The best section of the park is from puente de toledo until puente de praga. It feels like a little beach in the city. There are plenty of 'pic-nic' places where you can relax with the family, whilst the kids can play in the many water fountains. If you're in for some shopping or dining in the evning, I can recommend to visit centro comercial plaza rio 2, which is pnly a 10min walk from parque madrid rio.

We had a great time with our 2 and half years old daughter.
Walking across the park, riding a family bycicle and taking a sunbath on the splash area. We spent the day there and all loved it!

This is is a great walk and not too far to walk from the main centre of Madrid.
The walk takes in the river in Madrid and must span at least 5 miles and believe me when its 36° you really appreciate the various bars and restaurants scattered around.
If you're quick you might get to see the remains of Atletico Madrids old stadium, which at the time of writing they were demolishing it.
A must do walk near the heart of Madrid.
