We stayed 6 nights at the Atlantico and had two rooms, one for my wife and I and one for our two daughters. The hotel had a promotion that discounted the rooms based on length of stay so we were thrilled with the value. Although we reserved two standard doubles, they upgraded our room to a deluxe (very nice of them!). I would highly recommend the deluxe room if you are staying for more than one or two nights. The room is bigger, the bathroom is bigger, and the beds are more comfortable than the standard. Air conditioning worked great in both rooms, so did the wireless internet which was refreshingly fast by hotel standards. We had no problems at all with the rooms.

We did our research here before choosing this hotel and some reviews had comments about location, noise, and the breakfast that I'd like to give some feedback on. First, the location was outstanding. We were visiting for leisure and the central location really worked well for us. We never felt unsafe in the area around the hotel. Plenty of destinations within walking distance, easy access to cabs, the metro, the bus and a short cab ride to Atocha Station. How awesome was it to spend a couple hours in La Latina district enjoying the food and drink and then having an easy walk back to the hotel?

Noise. Our room was right on Gran Villa. If you look at a picture of the hotel you'll see the big blue sign in front, I could reach out my window and touch it. With the window open it sounded like you are on a busy city street because......you are! Close the window and the shutter and the street noise is barely noticeable. Seriously, I'm surprised anyone had negative comments about noise.

We had breakfast in the hotel 3 of the 6 mornings. We all thought that for 9euro per person it was very reasonable for the quality, quantity and selection available. If you're just looking for a cafe con leche and a croissant it would not make sense to eat there, but as a family of four that likes to eat a decent breakfast, we thought it was great.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again.

This hotel has a good location on the Grand Via - lots of big name shopping within 100 meters, and the Sol and Major squares just a 5-10 minute walk to the south via interesting pedestrian-only roads with more shopping. We even walked to the Prado though that's more like 30 minutes because you have to cross a lot of busy streets. We had premium rooms and they were plenty big with modern bathrooms and powerful AC (it was 95+ outside). Rooms were on upper floors facing the Grand Via, but the windows blocked the sound (which is substantial and can go all night) so the rooms were quiet enough. After midnight, the neighborhood can feel a little dodgy but we had no issues (and you should never wander into the area north of Grand Via). Breakfast was terrific...a big broad buffet like you see in England. Front desk staff was very helpful to us recommending lunch places and confirming dinner reservations - maybe not overly friendly and outgoing, but we always got good service. There are two terraces on the top floor for Sangrias..one sunny and one shady - take your pick. This would be a four star recommendation normally, but we had a great room rate and that makes it five! We would stay here again.

The rooms were very clean and spacious, the decoration was historic-looking, which was fun (felt like you're in a palace or something). The beds were very comfortable, we had an excellent sleep every night, and breakfast at the hotel is a must, they have anything you could want and the price is very reasonable. The location couldn't be better, within walking distance to absolutely everything! We were sad to leave!

-The location of this hotel is ideal - walking distance to all major attractions.
-The rooftop lounge is a great place to hang out! We sat outside and had drinks and played cards. Bernardo was VERY CARING, PERSONABLE, and FRIENDLY. Honestly, he was the best member of the staff there!! He made our stay memorable!! On the other hand, the front desk staff was not very helpful and rather rude. They spoke Spanish (thinking we did not understand) saying how they were going to go out for a smoke because we didn't really have many questions (even though we did have questions, but they were curt in answering! They were so eager to go out for a smoke!)
-The room was descent (rather small but as expected with most European hotels). Our shower was broken the first day, but someone promptly came and fixed it (questionable whether the hotel knew the shower was broken before giving us that room)
-The breakfast buffet (not included in hotel price) was a great start to the day since breakfast is not a big part of Spain's culture. Breakfast consisted of items such as fresh cut fruit, croissants, cheeses, toasts, eggs, yogurt, juices, etc.

Mainly picked this hotel based on other reviews and was not dissapointed. The free shuttle service from the airport was a lovely start to the stay. Check-in was fast and efficient and the room was outstanding. Even though we were in the heart of the city there was no traffic noise in the room. Electric shutters ensured a good nights sleep.Toiletries included a shoe shine and shaving kit along with the usual shampoo etc. nice touch. Buffet breakfast was substantial and was well presented and tasted as good as it looked. Coffee was very good. Pity we only had the one night.

I was disappointed in this hotel. The room next to ours was under construction and we constantly had construction noise and paint smell in our room. Between that noise, the street noise and the room to room noise; ear plugs were a must. When we booked the room through TA, the information indicated breakfast was included. Come to find out that when you book through TA and it sends you through Expedia and breakfast is not included if you go through Expedia; you have to book through the hotel directly. I explained that no where in our information did it say that. They did not care and would not comp breakfast. The desk staff was adequate. The location of the hotel is good, close to sights and metro stops. The deck and the observation dome is nice.
