“Amazing Atlantico”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2014

Just flown back from lovely Madrid - Hotel Atlantico was the icing on the cake for us ...
Friendly, courteous staff, and a smart bedroom on the seventh floor. We overlooked the Gran Via - but we were high enough up - not to be disturbed by the bustle and hustle :-)
This is definitely THE hotel to choose for good value and location ... Waking up at home this morning - I missed the delectable breakfast buffet !

:-) :-)

Room Tip: Room 705 spacious & with a balcony overlooking Gran Via

Located right on the main drag. Nice shopping and places to eat. Not too far from palacio real. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms small and not that inspiring. For a one or two day stay sure. Don't think I would spend 5 days there. Breakfast very good

Dear Snikers11111

Thanks for your feedback by those which I perceive that you were pleased with services, location, staff and breakfast, but not enough because your room was small. I apologize for this. We have many different types of rooms and the size depends of the room booked in your reservation. Our hotel also offers Deluxe rooms bigger than the Standard rooms.

I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.

Sincerely,

Eva Garcia

We stayed one night at Hotel Atlántico Madrid on Christmas day. The hotel is located along Gran Via – the main street of Madrid lined with emblematic fin-de-siècle buildings, shops and restaurants. The hotel is a stone’s throw away from Plaza del Oriente where the royal palace is located. The opera is even closer. Callao and Puerta del Sol are a mere 5 to 10 minute walk. In short the location is extremely central and leaves nothing to be desired for those who want to discover the main highlights of the city. The Prado museum is probably the only main attraction that is a bit farther from the hotel. Although even the Prado can be reached in around a 30 minute leisurely walk. Hotel Atlántico is an old world hotel. It’s housed in one of the beautiful 19th century buildings that adorn most of the Gran Via. It may be old world charm, the hotel is however exceedingly well maintained, super clean and very comfortable with all the modern conveniences that one expects from a four star hotel nowadays. The hotel I decorated in a neo-classical style. The soft hues used in the interior make for a relaxing, soothing environment. The reception area is small but efficient. The breakfast area is on the first floor and – for once ! – breakfast is – unlike breakfast in most hotels nowadays – nót a rip off: Hotel Atlántico charges only 10 Euros for breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet itself is not exceedingly extensive but it looked sufficient. We had a room facing Gran Via (8th Floor). To my surprise the rooms are very quiet. The double glazing reduces the outside noise considerably and only a light hum from the streets below is audible. The room was extremely spacious and so was the bathroom. The room made you want to spend time in it. The views you get from the 8th floor are pretty impressive. The room had a comfortable bed (slightly hard mattress) and very nice bed linen. The bath towels were also good quality. Everything was squeaky clean. On the top floor of the building you’ll find a wonderful bar/lounge with views of Madrid as well. The little turret of the building which can be accessed from the top floor is a delight as it offers 360° views of central Madrid. Wifi was free of charge. The hotel offers no dining options but who cares with all of Madrid’s best restaurants within reach just outside the door? I will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Madrid. Only minus: the elevated price. The location, the decoration, the views, the comfort… : it comes at a price. I felt it can be worth it. To use one of the Michelin guide’s categories for qualification: “A little folly”.

Room Tip: 8th floor and above Gran Via side give you splendid views over the city

Terrific in every way, although we did not eat their breakfast.
1. Superior Room #709. Ample space. Huge bed. Beautiful bathroom. Closet and drawer space. Quiet, especially once exterior light-blocking electric windows pulled down.
2. 5-10 minute walk to Plaza Mayor, Santa Ana, etc. 10-15 walk to Prado and Palace. Area behind hotel was interesting too. Lots of good new restaurants.
3. Friendly staff and non-stop bus to airport leaves approximately every two hours. 8 Euros!
4. Great value - found 30% off room offer.

We stayed here for six nights in early January. Fabulous location on Gran Via across road from Calleo metro station, but easy walk into Plaza Sol and everywhere else in the cental area, even an easy walk to the Prada. Room very quiet even if overlooking street. Uses electric shutters which work really well. We had a little balcony overlooking street which was great for getting a bead on the weather. The room was really well , classically decorated with striped wallpaper and lovely white wooden furniture. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was huge with everything in tip top condition. Service at front desk was always cheerful and helpful. Wifi worked really well everywhere and was free. They even have an airport shuttle but you need to check the timetable with the hotel direct. We booked online and there were no dramas at all. We cannot fault this hotel and we have travelled a lot. Great value for money and a fantastic place to stay in Madrid.

The Hotel Atlantico is an excellent 4-star hotel in the centre of Madrid. Very conveniently located on the bustling Gran Via, it is very close to most places of interest (Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Palacio Real, the Paseo del Prado, etc.). The entrance lobby is unassuming, but the rooftop bar and lobby have a wonderful view on the city, and the rooms are nice and spacious. Rooms on the front have command the view on the Gran Via, but you can get some noise from the busy street; the rooms on the back are very quiet.
The double room I was given was provided with all facilities you may need (tv, minibar, safe, two hairdryers, free wifi, etc., even an iron and board); the bed was very comfortable; the bathroom was large, with tub and separate shower (the shower itself was excellent), and two basins; it was provided with all necessary complimentaries. Room and bathroom were excellently clean (they came to make up the room two times a day).
The staff at lobby is very courteous and helpful; they speak English and, occasionally, other languages. The shuttle to the airport is very convenient and reasonably priced (8 euros); it leaves at given times that are displayed in the lobby. Rates are reasonable if not cheap (depending on when you book).
All in all, it was an excellent choice and I will use this hotel when I visit Madrid.

Room Tip: If you don't want to get the noise from the street, ask for an upper room on the side street or...
