So I booked this hotel for a business trip after a big disappointment I had the week before at another neighboring hotel.

Wow this Hotel is great and is perfect for business especially if you are traveling with only hand luggage which I do mostly when on business. The hotel provides shaving blades tooth brushes and all sorts with the usual bathroom stuff. It was perfect for me as I always try to save space when traveling to avoid the need to take hold luggage with me when on business.

The room was great and view was great also. I had a room on the 3rd floor over looking Gran Via. The TV had a couple of english channels which is good. Wifi was free in the room and also all over the hotel big plus. I also loved the bar/restaurant they have on the top floor. It was great to do some work in the afternoon enjoying the sun. Also the view from up there was brilliant.

The location of the Hotel is perfect just a few mins walk from all of the major attractions in Madrid. They also have a turn down service and also leave a couple of chocolates on the bed every evening.

I also would like to thank the Hotel Stuff for making my visit trouble free.
I enjoyed it so much that I will be returning to this hotel next week for another 5 day business trip to Madrid. In the last 2 months I have visited Madrid 5 times and always stayed in a different hotel due to disappointments one after the other but this hotel is by far the best I stayed in, in Madrid that is why I have booked it again.

Lovely classic European style Hotel. Room 613 of generous proportions, rare for a central city hotel at this price, in the best of locations, on the Gran Via opposite Placa del Callao. The terrace bar and sitting salons atop this hotel are five star and very inviting. Our room could have benefitted from a magnifying mirror, and second chair/lounge chair, and there was no free cable or BBC or CNN. It would also be good if there was more seating facilities at ground level reception to use while waiting for tour pick ups or taxis, or checking in and out though we never had to stand. Loved the little gold silk bags of chocolate from the turn down service! (but for some reason that only happened on the first 2 nights) A great value stay of 7 nights in the centre of Madrid's shopping district. It is beautifully lit at night, but if management read this could they please fix the neon signage, as three letters were out at our time of stay and I think it portrays a lack of maintenance which was not evident elsewhere.

Room Tip: We did not notice if there was a fitness centre or pool.

Dear Karen G.

We would like to thank you for having taken the time to comment on your recent stay at Hotel Atlántico and we are very happy that overall you have enjoyed your stay with us

We deeply apologize if you found not enough seats in the reception area, but we are located in an old building and the lobby is not too big for many seats. With respect to the TV channels to inform you that we have added 20 new foreign channels in French, English, Italian, German in order our non-Spanish speaking customers may also be informed and entertained. These channels include CNN and BBC. Finally I inform you that I need a license from the council to repair the light. We are waiting for the authorization to start to repair the sign.

Thanks a lot to help us to improve our services for our guests.

I hope you can give us another chance and we can accommodate you again on your next visit to Madrid.

We stayed at the Atlantico for 5 nights from the 10th - 15th April 2014. It is situated on the main Gran Via and very close to the Calloa underground stop. The room was large with the biggest bathroom we've ever had in a hotel. There was an TV, A/C and an in-room safe. It was very clean, well decorated and with a beautiful roof-top terrace with a small bar. Even in April it was warm enough to sit out under the stars with a glass of wine at night. We asked for a quiet room at the back to avoid any traffic noise from the Gran Via. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the staff at Reception spoke good English and were helpful in their recommendations e.g. where to go for a Flamenco show. There are lots of restaurants close by. The hotel is on the edge and within walking distance of the Old Town and we felt very safe walking about even late at night - we used the underground to get back from the Bernabeu after a 10pm kick-off. The only problem we had was finding the correct hotel pick-up point from the airport - it wasn't clear where it was, people at the airport were unable to help and in the end we got the Metro from the airport to the hotel, which actually was an easy journey. I would definitely stop at the Atlantico again if visitng Madrid.

Dear PippyDippy,

we would like to thank you very much for your wonderful comments but also for your useful remarks following your recent stay with us in April. We are very happy and proud that you liked the hotel, our location and particularly our service and this is surely the best compliments for a Hotel Manager. I am very sorry to know that you did not found the shuttle bus stop in the airport. We take note about your complaint in order to solve this matter and that such incident do not occur anymore for future customers.

I hope you can give us another chance and we can accommodate you again on your next visit to Madrid. Thanks again for your patience.

We had booked our room in September last year, based on location and the good reviews. The very positive reviews continued in the intervening months prior to our stay. This will be one further very positive review for an outstanding hotel. We enjoyed every aspect of it. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel. Excellent breakfast with extremely efficient staff. We had an excellent room on the 8th floor. The room was very comfortable, well presented and had a large bathroom. Again, it was spotlessly clean and always a pleasure to return to after a hard day's sightseeing. The hotel is well located for visiting the tourist sights or for just wandering. The Gran Via is a vibrant and perpetually busy place so it is perhaps not surprising that other reviews have made reference to the noise. It certainly did not cause us any problems and in fact stepping out from the hotel onto the Gran Via was always a highlight.
We had a fabulous time in an amazing city. It is a mark of how good the hotel is that staying there was also one of the highlights of the holiday.
Would we go back? Definitely. In fact, I am sure we will.

On the Gran Vía, at the end of one of the sun rays (Puerta del Sol's pedestrian streets), the hotel couldn't have been more fabulously located for accessing all of Madrid's city center. The very cordial and helpful hotel staff was paramount to our enjoyment of our trip. We were given two adequate rooms on the fifth floor; no views, but very quiet. The mattresses were on the hard side, but not "unsleepable". The bathrooms were small, but so well lit! The recent trend towards minimum lighting in hotels is a no-no for me, especially in bathrooms. How to put on make up if you can hardly see? The lighting in our rooms was excellent, and, as has been mentioned, the housekeeping staff did an excellent job. I heartily recommend this hotel to all Madrid visitors.

What can I say? You know when you read reviews before you book a hotel and once you've booked, you hope it meets your expectations... This one absolutely EXCEEDED our expectations!! The hotel is around 20-30 mins from the airport in a cab (30 euro fixed price) and is situated in the middle of Madrid. We managed to see all of Madrid by foot and had no need to use the metro (there a millions everywhere). All your tourist spots are within 10-20 mins walking distance from the hotel. Plaza Mayor and De Sol are 10 mins away walking. Being a keen football fan, we had to take a cab to football stadium as this is a little bit out the way. Gran Via is the shopping street and is surrounded by shops like Zara, H&M, McDonalds, KFC and tapas restaurants - There's a Nike shop next door to the hotel...

Anyway.. Back to the hotel... Fantastic 9 floor hotel with a rooftop bar. Hotel staff were absolutely helpful and they give you a really good map of the city which I recommend you get as its soo simple to follow and see the sights.. The room was bigger than expected and clean! We stayed on the 8th floor and the room had everything needed for a 5 night stay.. His & her sinks, double shower with a big shower head (ended up having 2 showers a day.. lol) TV, mini bar, safe and a huge bed!! +++ FREE WIFI :-)

We would like to thank Hotel Atlantico for the wonderful stay and would definately stay with you again if we decide to return to Madrid again in the future.

Room Tip: Try getting a room on the 8th floor as they are meant to be nicer. Its the highest floor you can get...

When in Madrid, my wife and I stay at Atlantico in the heart of the city. The staff is friendly, professional and ready to attend to your every need. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The buffet style breakfast is a treat which offers continental to American style and endless coffee the way you want it. In the evening, the upstairs bar and lounge is open for a relaxing time to socialize and enjoy the view from the terrace of the active center of Madrid. We have never been disappointed.
