This is a really good hotel at affordable prices. Everything about the hotel worked for me. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable and immaculate which included an iron and ironing board, mini bar, safe bathrobe and slippers. Even the minibar prices were very reasonable. The roof terrace and bar was also well worth a visit for the view and to chill out after a long, hot, day in a wonderful city. The location of the hotel was very good, close to the metro, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, shops and dozens and dozens of great bars and resturants. On the whole a very big thumbs up! They also do a great airport transfer.

Room Tip: I had a side facing room and it was fine. I can't say what other rooms are like.

This is about as good as you can get with a hotel. I booked two rooms for 3 nights the first week of July. The hotel is extremely clean and has a great staff. They went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed. I liked the location and room itself with it being comfortable and close to all you need to do in Madrid.

The room itself had nice toiletries, a safe, and a great layout. Remember this is Europe to the rooms can be a little smaller.

Room Tip: Get a room at the top of the hotel for some amazing city views.

Found this hotel on Tripadvisor and booked it.
Arrived early at airport ~8:00am Sunday morning. Hotel bus picked us up and dropped us off for free at hotel around 10:00am. No problem we could have our room right away and have breakfast. Staff was very friendly.
Were concerned about small lobby, but room was great, a bit tight, but in a great old building, modern bathroom, view right on Gran Via ( not everybody may like the activity).
Breakfast was in a great open room with view of Gran Via. Excellent breakfast.
Very central location to reach everything in Madrid, metro right outside.
Rooms with view of Gran Via have balcony doors: open them and enjoy Gran Via. If you do not like the noise, close them and it is quiet.
Are going there again in two days on way back.

Room Tip: Select room with view of Gran Via. Gran Via is very busy. We left doors open at night to enjoy the...

Dont stay in this room, it was dark even at 12pm and 30 degrees outside, claustrophobic to say the least. you have an option in this hotel either get a room overlooking the atrium (dark/dingie) or a room overlooking the busy main street (no sleeping).
I asked for an alternative room but was told in no uncertain terms there were non available even though I could still book a room online.
Pick another hotel.

Dear Tom S. Further to our conversation through e-mail, please be informed that room 201 is a superior room with a good size and a great bathroom. It is an interior room and for this reason it is not as light as the exterior rooms, but it is a very quiet deluxe room. We have never had any complaints of this room. If you found rooms available through internet they were individual and interior rooms too. For this reason the front desk did not change you to a new room.

I'm sorry that after our emails when it seemed that everything was cleared up, we received this review.

Again I apologize for all the inconvenience occured during your stay.

Kind regards.

The Hotel Atlantico, Madrid on the Grand Via is first class! Our room was immaculate and the service outstanding. The hotel staff were very warm, friendly and helpful. Javiar at reception spoke English perfectly. He always had a welcome smile and nod for guests and paid great attention to details to ensure a good experience for us as guests of the hotel. He went out of his way to personally drop postcards in the mail for me to ensure they got deposited in the correct postal stream (Apparently Spain has two competing services). The other reception personnel were equally, efficient , professional, courteous and pleasant.

Our room was on the 4th floor to what I assume is the west side of the building. The noise from the busy Grand Via street and Carao square across the street did not bother us when the windows were closed. The Atlantico's location is excellent. It is steps from the metro and just off one of the streets leading to Plaza del Sol. We had the convenience of being minutes from Plaza del Sol without the expense and noise of a hotel directly off of Plaza del Sol. It was also steps from the red tourist bus stop. Perfect!

Our chamber maids left cards with their first names for us in the room so should we require anything we could ask for them. Each evening they would return to the room to turn down the tightly tucked sheets and leave a gold coloured little cloth satchel with two gold wrapped milk chocolate squares on the bed.

Atlantico goes the distance to when it comes to attention to detail to provide top notch service. We used the hotels private airport shuttle service for 8 Euros per person to get to the airport. This was fast and extremely reasonable.

I would definitely return to this luxurious hotel the next time I visit Madrid. It was an absolute pleasure!

This place is really above average for the price. The location is just perfect you can easily reach to almost every point of interest of the city, walking time to Puerta del Sol is about 5 minutes but also it's very easy to leave the city and explore the surrounding towns as it's is located in La Gran Via and you can access to almost al the important suburban roads from there. First impression when you enter the hotel is of a 3 stars place but when you get to your room you'll feel like in a 5 stars hotel, it is immaculate clean and will all the typical amenities of a 5 stars hotel including a very well assorted mini bar. No doubt this is the best place I've stayed in Madrid

The Atlantico is how every hotel should be! We stayed as a family of four (in two rooms) for three nights. The location is perfect, right at the heart of Madrid and close to the major museums, shops and restaurants. The service is very friendly and the front desk staff could not do enough to make us feel at home. Free and fast wifi throughout the hotel. The decor of this hotel is luxurious without being too formal. On the 9th floor is a gorgeous terrace and a large indoor bar with big overstuffed sofas, perfect for relaxing or a pre-dinner drink. The rooms themselves are huge, with top-spec large bathrooms, seating areas, king size comfy beds and complete blackout for the lights keepers among us (that's me!). Big TVs, lots of subtle lighting and remote control window blinds. The housekeeping was impeccable. Breakfast is buffet-style and it offers a wide range of cereals, cooked food, cheese, meats, pastries, fruit, yoghurts etc. Also cava (champagne) features in the buffet, should you feel like starting the day with some fizz! The only slight problem I can find with the Atlantico is that it can be noisy at night. Our rooms were at the back of the hotel facing the inner courtyard. here there seem to be some private apartments and there was quite a lot of noise from the residents and from a barking dog down in the courtyard. But the hotel itself is perfectly quiet inside, with heavy doors and good sound-proofing. We loved our stay here and highly recommend the Atlantico to any families staying in Madrid!
