“Great city hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

We booked this hotel because of the central location and were not in the slightest disappointed. Everything was in walking distance - from the Royal Palace to the Prado and El Retiro. We spent a week here and didn't use public transport or taxis once. Lovely clean rooms, plenty of space and all the amenities you could wish for; super showers and well-equipped bathrooms. Soundproof rooms, electric shutters and air-conditioning made for a great night's sleep. A really nice touch was the nightly turn down service with chocolates. We didn't bother with the breakfast as it was so easy to find an excellent and inexpensive 'desayuno' in one of the nearby cafes or restaurants, but we did enjoy the rooftop bar for a pre-dinner tipple a couple of evenings. The staff were very helpful and the concierge was particularly willing to offer recommendations for a typical paella or Flamenco show.

Room Tip: Th street view rooms have a vibrant aspect.

My husband and I stayed here recently for 2 nights. The best thing about it is the location, easy to access from the Metro and close the lots of bars, restaurants, the tourist bus stop and some of the key sights. Our room was on the inside of the building so it lacked light and a view, but we had asked for a quiet room so that could have been why, and we prefer a good nights sleep so it worked well for us. It had all of the facilities we needed and was clean. The staff were all friendly, although could have showed a little more personality and enthusiasm. The rooftop bar had a nice terrace, good views and reasonably priced drinks. On the first afternoon we couldn't get a drink as there was no-one to serve us, but we found a local bar close by with no problems. Would definitely recommend.

Hello Samantha032.

Thank you very much for your lovely comment. We are very pleased to read that your stay was comfortable and enjoyed our central location which we know how important is to make easier visiting the city.

We however regret that you were not entirely satisfied with the inconveniences with the bar because was closed and with the staff. Your feedback is very much appreciated and i can assure you that my staff and i use this information to do everything possible to create an enjoyable experience for each of our guest. We hope to see you again.

On the Gran Via. A very busy part of Madrid. Yound and vibrato. Always something happening and very convenient to sites, shopping and restaurants. We walked almost everywhere.

The top floor "lounge" was fun, but there is only one wait-person and the observation terraces are spread around the exterior.

The place appears to be brand new on the inside. Looks like a former palace on the exterior. Staff is on the spot, friendly and thankfully speaks english.

If you are there on a weekend, bring ear plugs. It is a busy place and they don't carpet rooms in Europe. You can hear doors close all up and down the hall and the person in the room upstairs was up all night, probably not an insomniac. There is ZERO noise from the busy street out front. Breakfast was great. I loved the automatic coffee machines!

Hotel Atlantico was clean and modern, the staff was friendly, and the location was right in the middle of the main sites we wanted to visit. The price was great to boot. My only complaint is that there was a concert nearby until 2:30am the night before I had to wake up for my 6am flight home, but I can't really blame the hotel for that.

Room Tip: Street-view rooms are great...unless there's a concert in the square nearby.

The biggest advantage of this hotel was that it was right in the heart of the city. It was on Gran Via and just couple of minutes walk away from Puerta Del Sol, Plaza Major and seconds away from Callao metro station.

Rooms were large enough with all basic amenities such as -strangely- two hair dryers, a safe, additional pillows and blankets, tv and a minibar available. Disposable slippers were one of the best in quality I had ever seen. They were like proper slippers. Shaving kits, a disposable comb, dental kits were available in the bathroom. Bathroom tiles were in light colours so I had doubt whether they were actually clean.

Also it is worth mentioning that the aircon was the most quiet hotel aircon i had seen. I could not realize if it was running. (yes, it was running, not broken down)

Breakfast was fine. Nothing to complain or appreciate about it.

Room Tip: 805 is nice with a balcony looking over Gran Via.

Dear Onurustunel

Thank you for telling us about your recent stay at the Hotel Atlantico.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed our location directly in Gran Via street, only to a few minutes from the main sights of the city. I am most pleased of all thought that you enjoyed our service which is what we work hardest at. Thank you also for your mention about the air conditioning.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

A basic hotel - lobby vey small and not fansy like in the pictures.
Book the room with view to the street , the rooms to the hotel aren't recommended - view to the air conditioner :(
The location is excellent , near the shopping area
Also very close to Chueca district which in my opinion is the best area for coffee shops and Vegi places.
If you are in the mood for party just look at the rooftops of the hotels in the area -
ME hotel has a good Bar up on the roof and also the Room Mate hotel.
If you are looking for a quite hotel this is the one for you,

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view to the street , the rooms to the inside had windows to the air-condition...

Would definitely return to this Hotel. The staff were friendly, the rooms were very clean and well appointed . We had two rooms both had lots of space, great bathrooms and we also had balconies. For the price it was excellent value and would encourage others to check it out. Location wise- it is on a very busy street but the noise is not an issue and it is a perfect central location . There are lots of places to cross safely and a Metro close at hand . We could walk to most of the main attractions even in the extreme heat ! For any travellers on a gluten free diet there is a wonderful GF bakery near by with fantastic cakes. It is called Celicioso. The breakfast at the hotel was very good for the price and also plenty to eat for those on a GF diet. It was extremely hot in Madrid during our stay but the AC in the rooms was great .The communal areas were also cool and clean and there is a nice area at the top of the Hotel to have a drink and relax .There is an added advantage of a hotel to airport bus which we used and would recommend.
