“Long weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

The location is next to the footy stadium and the your there is great. Staff in hotel were ok and the rooftop sunbathing is really nice. Pool ok but small. Gym not great. Breakfast was quite good and fresh but not sure about the chicken wings and rice at 8 in the morning. Staff at breakfast need to learn how to treat customers though. Service is slow and the customer decides where to sit... Not them if tables are free. On the whole an ok stay. We had a room upgrade to exec as gold member and this was good on 9th floor.

Stayed here recently on business, had a nightmare trying to find the hotel car park as the one outside the front isn't actually the hotel car park, plus driving in Madrid is very difficult.

Hotel is nice inside, friendly staff, decent location for food, shops and football ground (if that floats your boat), room was a decent size but just all felt a little dated and could do with a refresh.

I've stayed in Holiday Inn's all over the world and this is a good one, a few more improvements and it could be a great one!

If you don't need to hire a car it is much easier and quicker just to get a taxi here as it's a little difficult to find.

Room Tip: Non smoking floor as the smoking floor is horrendous...

Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in but quite basic.

The rooms are quite old and stale and need refurbished.

The reception area is ok I think it has been refreshed not too long ago.

The wheelchair accessible room I was in was alright but had obviously just been made into an accessible room. Not bad but not great a lot of things way too high for a wheelchair user to reach.

It had a bath I prefer that so that was good. The ramp to get into the hotel was incredibly steep and wouldn't be legal in the UK or USA. In fact was quite dangerous. There was no way I could get into the hotel unaided it was so steep. I am quite fit as well so not sure any wheelchair user could do it.

The pool was also totally inaccessible for a wheelchair user. Very disappointing.

The hotel is not worth the €100 per night I paid not by a long way. If it was half that price then maybe.

But to not be able to get in myself and have no use of pool is taking a bit of a liberty in my opinion.

The air conditioning and the internet in the room was ok so that was something.

The whole hotel stinks of stale cigarette smoke doesn't matter if it's a smoking room or not makes no difference.

Big thing here is the ramp at the front is a death trap and someone could really get hurt. Holiday Inn should do something about it very quickly.

Stayed here with my wife and 2 kids for 2 nights to see a bit of Madrid. We booked it (free) through air miles so weren't expecting 5 star luxury and we had a pleasant enough time. The room had 2 queen size beds and a clean if small bathroom. Not much more to be said. It's a decent bolt hole there is a pool on the roof which was busy but nice enough to jump in and cool down. Not big enough to swim in properly though. The location isn't central but it really is very easy to get into the centre of the city, there is a metro station opposite, and a very efficient bus that takes you in in 10 mins. It's also right next to the Bernebau and on the north side of the city so handy for he airport which is about 20 mins drive. A cab into city centre was about 15 euro.
The breakfast was fine with fresh fruit and coffee. The scrambled eggs looked awful though and I didn't dare try them as they looked very sloppy. The staff were friendly and spoke English. One gripe was when we arrived with 7 bags including my golf clubs there was no offer to help take them up to the room.
The wi fi was so slow at peak times to be virtually unusable and was only free for one device. I don't mind paying a flat day rate for all devices but 12 euros per device per day is a rip off.
We did all the sights a bit of shopping, and spent a pleasant afternoon by the pool so it served a purpose. Next time I would spend a few pounds more and get a slightly nicer hotel.

This Hotel is very well located with the international airport not being far.Mini market, well known stores like Courtes l`anglese, starbucks & other eating joints close by.The rooms are clean but small with good clean bed linen & towels.

The staff do try to understand English & are helpful. The B`fast has a wide range of spainish & American items & also fruits & dry fruits for which Spain is famous. The only problem is the large influx of package tourists that land up in hordes in the morning & evenings when it becomes very difficult to get the ear of the receptionist to any of your problems!

Recommend stay & will come back next time!

Room Tip: Top floors for night light views!

I came directly from a Holiday Inn in Nashville, TS to this hotel, and the contrast was stunning. At *half price* of the run-down and worn-out hotell I had in Nashville, my room at Madrid Holiday Inn was spotless, new, clean. The breakfast had really good coffee (what *is* it with the US hotels and their ridicolous so called "coffee"?), scrambled eggs made from real eggs, and even freshly pressed orange juice.
The hotel was a delight, the staff very friendly. Example: Due to jetlag I overslept breakfast the first day, and was served tortilla with bread and delicious orange juice and coffee at the bar in stead. I can recommend this hotel to anyone. Very good value for money!

I guess the best way to describe this hotel is to say that it is a basic Holiday Inn that you would find in any city. The rooms are clean and quite, but they are in need of some updating/refurbishing. Bottom mattress could use a cover to hide all the stains. The curtains can certainly use to be replaced as they are very outdated. They do block out the day light however which is a plus. the furnishings look like something you would have had in your dorm. The carpets are worn and have stains as well. The rooms are larger than most European rooms. The bathroom is a good size as well. The towels are rather thin as well and they should probably think about buying new ones. The hotel staff at the front desk is very friendly and efficient. The coffee is very good at the bar and restaurant. The rooms do have coffee and tea available which is very nice in the morning. There is a small work out room and a pool on the top floor. the location is ok, it is in walking distance to the soccer stadium and at the corner you can catch the bus for 1.50 euro to Placa del Sole. It is very convenient and easy to use. there is also a metro stop if you prefer the underground. Nearby there are local restaurants and tappas bars. It is a more residential area, plenty of shopping around. El Corte Inglese is within walking distance as well as smaller groceria's. Also if you are traveling with children they have adjoining rooms with doubles. Overall i was satisfied with the hotel but i think it is more in line with a 3 star rating until some needed updates are made. Don't get your hopes up.

Room Tip: non adjoining rooms reduces the noise level from neighbors
