“Great hotel for overnight stay before flying in or out of Madrid”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2010

We were flying from Alicante Airport to Madrid and needed an overnight hotel, close to the airport for a international flight the next morning. What appealed to me was the free shuttle service to and from the hotel. Upon arrival at the Madrid airport, I called the hotel after collecting our bags, and they instructed us where to go stand outside. It took about 15 minutes for the shuttle van to arrive and then about 5 minutes to reach the hotel. We had prebooked and prepaid via the internet, our hotel room, prior to leaving the USA. Check in was fast and we took the elevator to our room and left the bags and inquired at the hotel lobby how to find & ride the metro. He gave us a Metro map & circled the 2 stops we would need to change at, to get to our final destination. It was about 2 blocks down the street to the Barajas Metro Stop. We showed the map to the man at the ticket booth and he sold us our round trip tickets to the city center. It was about a 35 minute metro ride to the station we got off at in the city center (near the Prado).
The room was small, but very clean and the bathroom very modern with a powerful, hot shower. There was a nice big closet that held 2 suitcases. We were on the street side and had sliding doors that led onto a tiny, glass enclosed balcony with 2 chairs. There were blinds on the windows, which you could raise & open the windows.
The next morning, we were in the breakfast room when it opened at 7am. I was expecting just coffee & juice and maybe a roll, but it was a surprise to see all that was offered. You would not leave there hungry.
We were told that we needed to be in the lobby 15-20 minutes before the shuttle left and had no problems returning to the Madrid airport the following morning.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our trip to Spain and wish that we had stayed there for the first three days we spent in Madrid at the beginning. Pickup from the airport was very prompt and courteous as was the return to the airport. Breakfast was very good, and there was free acces to computers and to coffee and tea all day. The Metro was very near and we used it for additional sightseeing. Best of all. it was very quiet and peaceful and we could sleep well. which was in sharp contrast to our earlier stay in Best Western Los Condes. This hotel is in a real neighborhood and thus not like a typical airport hotel. It's a great value.

We flew into Madrid late, had the following day to tour, and departed the morning of the third day. We decided to stay near the airport, use the airport shuttle, and travel by metro into town on our touring day. This is not an airport hotel--it is on a neighborhood street with excellent restaurants. The shuttle, service, and breakfast were wonderful. The room was tiny but that is not surprising for what we paid. Comfortable and great value for the price.

I stayed there waiting overnight for my connecting flight. They provide with a free airport transfer. It goes at least every 30 minutes. Hotel is located close to Barajas metro station. The room was very simple and single bed was very narrow. On the other hand the bathroom was clean, nice and modern. Wireless Internet was free but on my first stay there, didn't work in the room. Fortunately it was working in the lobby and there were two netbooks also. Breakfast was tasty.

As a solo business traveler, this hotel was conveniently located to the airport. It was simple, clean and there was access to several restaurants for meals. I had a very early flight in the AM (before the free shuttle started) and had the hotel order a taxi. Just a word of caution, the cost of the taxi was outrageous!

Service was amazing!
Airport shuttle was fast, efficient and friendly.
Free WiFi.
Close to metro (5 minute walk), which took 20 minutes to Plaza de Espana.
Air conditioning was self controlled and powerful.
Breakfast was decent, but for 5euross/person it was all that could be expected.

If you have been touring Spain outside of Madrid and are just coming to capital area to catch a morning flight, this hotel should suit very well. It is located in the center of Barajas, which, although not being particularly charming or picturesque, is served by a couple of decent restaurants, a pub, even a Burger King. And there is a well-stocked little grocery store directly across the road so you can pick up a wide variety of drinks and snacks if you just want to rest before your next flight. So, unlike other airport hotels where your choice is to stay on the hotel property and not budge, in this place you have options.

The rooms are teeny-tiny. But you get what you pay for in that. Otherwise, excellent air conditioning, spotless housekeeping, friendly desk staff, prompt airport shuttle, good soundproofing, WiFi with good signal -- even a tasty and varied breakfast.

To those who would put down this establishment, they are welcome to stay in a place more to their liking, and at 3 to 4 times the price they would pay a Best Western Villa Barajas.
