“A Very Average Hotel...!!! Needs an Upgrade”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014

This is a very average hotel as per the price and the location of the hotel is also very far from the main area...!!! otherwise the hotel staff is very polite and helpful...!! and not to forget the rooms are very small and old.. needs an immediate renovation...!!
But yes quite close to the football stadium...!!!

Awesome hotel, decor in the bar, lobby very prestigious, rooms do need some updating and better finishing. Staff are very courteous and friendly. Fair price paid for luxury weekend however the competition is fierce and there are some good looking hotels nearby.

This is a nice hotel located in a central part of the city. You will have to walk a bit to find things to do around the local area, but if you get directions, things and places are not hard to find.

As far as the hotel itself, it is very nice. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only issue that I had with my room was that the sink drains were VERY SLOW to drain. This is something that house keeping should really be on top of. It is nothing that regular drain cleaning won't solve. The lighting is plentiful and there are convenient electrical outlets next to each side of the bed (rare for most European hotels).

Overall, I would have to say that I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Nice hotel with helpful staff and quite a central location. Spacious clean rooms some with balconies overlooking the city, like we were lucky to have. Good breakfast buffet. Bus stop just outside the hotel.

As a tourist this is not a great hotel in a great location. This is an average hotel in an average location... Probably a decent business hotel, but not a great hotel for tourists in Madrid. Further, this is no five star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. Although parts of the hotel feel more modern than others, overall the hotel feels very dated. One of my biggest pet peeves is the ac not working in a hotel room. This is one of those hotels that is on uniform heating and cooling. I hate it. The room was always hot and there was nothing to be done. You cannot claim to be a 5 star hotel if you cannot cool the room below 22 C.

We prepaid for two rooms. Our cousin was staying one night and we were staying two nights. They ended up charging her which they were not supposed to and only charged one night for the prepay. This mess took 4 or 5 emails to get right. I will give credit to the hotel manager for sorting it out, but it was not fun on checkout.

The Pros and Cons:

Pros:
1. Decent location- It was a block and a half south of a metro station and there were a few good restaurants in walking distance.
2. Solid service- the concierge did well handling some Real Madrid tickets we bought from a third party.
3. The Manager- Handled the checkout mess via email very well and got the bill sorted out.

Cons:
1. Old Rooms that do not cool- The rooms need an update and the rooms would not cool below 22C. Hotel management said this was a winter/summer issue. Yet, in April Madrid can be pretty warm. Not acceptable for a "5" star hotel.
2. Location is not great for tourism- Maybe this is a good business location, but it is a 20-30 walk to see anything as a tourist.
3. Problems with the billing and prepay- The bill was a mess. After explaining exactly what we wanted on check-in, they did not follow any of the directions. As amends, they waived the very expensive internet charge.

All in all, there are many better options for the money in Madrid. We should have stayed somewhere else.

Dear Tpwoofs,

We are sorry to read that your stay was not at your entire satisfaction, I would like to apologize for that.

Please do not hesitate to contact me to solve any issue with your invoice or any further assistance you may need. My mail is manrique.rodriguez@ihg.com.

Our hotel is located very closed to Santiago Bernabeu, Serrano Street (very popular for shopping) and only 3 metro stops to Gran Via.

As you said it is a quite area with several restaurants to enjoy!

Hope to see you soon.

The hotel staff could not be any nicer. Location is excellent. For me the most important things are the quality of the beds and comfort of the bathrooms. They were both excellent. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone for both business and pleasure. Rooms aren't huge and our room did not have a dresser of any kind to store our clothes. There was a small closet for hanging garments bu that was it.

I was in Madrid for a week and the last 3 nights me and my boyfriend checked into this hotel. I had been looking to book this hotel for a few months but had to wait until I could get good flight prices and a football game I want to watch. I checked in to the hotel on my 21st birthday and was a lovely suprise that the hotel had picked up on this and gave me a present from them, some of the small touches in a hotel makes all the diffrence. I also left my charger at the last hotel and the man on concierge gave me his charger and I know from working in a hotel that most hotels dont actually give chargers out as they go missing. I cant rememeber the mans name. The hotel is in a good location for the Santiago it was only 2 metro stops. Lovely hotel and a lovely clean room. Will be back to visit soon. Muchas gracias!
