The hotel is very good located, right in the middle of the old town. The rooms are clean and well furnished. But pay attention, if you go one of the cheaper rooms (called budget or so), they are located in like the cellar...there is only a small window high above and you can't open it. But the room itself is good, big and clean. The breakfast buffet was also very nice…would go again, but if possible next time in a better room with a window…but that's a matter of price.

Room Tip: The cheap "budget" room is in something like a cellar with only a small window above...if...

We stayed our first 3 nights of a 3 week trip to Spain in this hotel. The rooms are clean and well furnished. The small patio overlooked the square below. The rooms were quiet, making it easier to get through a little jet lag.
And the young man who checked us in was very friendly and used Google translate to transcend the language barrier at one point. He was very helpful.
We enjoyed our stay very much!

Stay here for 3 days and found that reception was very friendly. The hotel is situated in great central location for visiting attractions in Madrid. Our room overlooked the inner courtyard and it was very quiet. The breakfast offered each day was delicious and had a food satisfy a variety of tastes from the pastries to fruit and cold cuts. You could get eggs upon request. The coffee cups were small which meant several trips to the machine for refills. A couple of times we had drinks at the outside cafe in front of the hotel but only for the convenience of it. The service staff was not very attentive and it was not because they had customers in the restaurant or inside lounge to serve. We noticed several couples sit down and then eventually leave when no one came to take their orders. But we did appreciate this cafe's location and as it was one of the few places we visited that we did not have locals come by and beg us for coins.

Just arriving from USA we were a bit jet lagged but the reception was efficient and quite friendly. Our room while not large by american standards was spotless and lovely. We overlooked the Plaza on a upper floor and could look over rooftops. We did hear party goers late into the evening, if this bothers you book a room overlooking the atrium. Breakfast which was included was quite varied and dellicious. There was nothing you could not ask for including fresh cooked eggs and bacon. Wonderful The staff was helpful with local information, friendly and courteous. The location could not be better. Lots to do and see within walking distance including the Palacio. City tour bus is just a short walk away. We will stay here again

Centrally situated and in easy reach of major tourist areas and plenty of good restaurants. Rooms and beds very comfortable, only complaint was the difficulty of getting out of the bath as the toilet & bidet were too close to the bathtub (this could be a problem for elderly or disabled travellers). Breakfasts varied & plentiful with particularly outstanding coffee. Service equally good, friendly and helpful. Inner glass-roofed courtyard & internal sitting area gave this hotel a charming Spanish touch.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces outside over the square as the rooms facing the inner courtyard could be c...

In a stark contrast with my typical experience reading TripAdvisor reviews, I must strongly disagree with everyone here. My wife and I checked in last night and we're greeted by two fairly rude and unhelpful gentlemen. We were given Room 2, on the ground floor, which was actually below street level.

Cold
Austere
Barren
Desolate
Inhospitable

Think of a room made to resemble the Berlin Wall. The floors are cold stone (dirty with someone else's hair). The walls, gray. One window with bar that let's in little light, dept for the shadows of strangers passing by. The size of the room is not enough to impact your desire to escape. Every time the door closed, there was a slam as if I was escaping or being locked in my cell.

The hotel is in a great location with a good enough restaurant out front, but none of that lessens the fact that thinking about the room depresses me. It makes me think of the life of as an ascetic monk. I would never dare book a room here again for fear of having this room again. It is so bad and there are so many hotels in Madrid, it isn't worth the risk.

We spent four days here, reception staff were excellent and helped us book restaurants. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor and, if you have a coffee on the way, the galleries and museums around the Prado area. The location is on a quiet square but with frequent taxis passing on the side road. Nice outside seating area for snacks, and very good breakfasts. Also very close to a branch of the El Corte Inglés department store.

Room Tip: Inside rooms on the higher floors are probably best
