We stayed in this Hotel for a few days after coming from Barcelona.
Positive: location, it is near puerta del sol and it gives you great access to many places in Madrid. Concierge ( Pedro was fantastic, Daniel was also helpful) were really helpful to give me info about the place. Pedro helped us to get a great sit at the Carboneras Flamenco tablao.

Negative: We understood that we were staying in a non smoking floor or hotel. We could smell the cigarette odor in the carpet. We were waiting for an elevator and we noticed a strong smoke odor around. Sudenly a cleaning lady came out or a door that said: gym, bussiness in front of the elevator ( she spray something in the air to camuflage the odor).

Beds are not comfortable and the pillows are hard, when I got home my back thanked me.

I have just returned from four days staying at the Liabeny and I enjoyed it so much. It's located in the heart of Madrid, but is situated on its own private street, which makes it so peaceful. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very good, and I would recommend this as the place to stay, if one wants to walk out the door and be close to shopping, within a healthy walk for the most important sites, and really wants to experience being in the heart of one of the most elegant cities in Europe.

Room Tip: We are smokers and loved that the smoking floors were facing the street and we felt welcome.

Having been to Madrid once before, it wasn't too hard to negotiate the metro system from the airport to find the hotel. We like to walk around and the Hotel Liabeny was in a great spot to reach a whole range of attractions (Palace, Opera building, art galleries, shops and restaurants). We were only there for 2 nights before heading off in the train to Bilbao, but got a chance to see and experience a fair bit of Madrid even in that short time. It was great to get out in the late afternoon and share a stroll with the locals down the nearby plazas. The hotel itself was comfortable enough and the service OK, but the location is hard to beat.

We chose this hotel after reading many reviews on this sight. The hotel had our reservations in order. The location could not have been better for sightseeing. My husband and I love to walk and from this hotel it was an easy stroll to the Prado and other sights in Madrid. Plus it is convenient to two Metro stops, Sol and Gran Via. The buffet breakfast, which was extra, was worth the money. It was well rounded and had a large assortment. The room was fine, but a little small, but we slept well for the two nights we booked. The only drawback is the neighborhood to the left as you exit the main door. While no one bothered us, if you were looking for an "escort", that was the place to shop. On the right was the "malled off" shopping area for clothing and accessories.

I booked the Hotel Liabeny as a surprise for my boyfriend’s birthday. The hotel staff were fantastic from the moment I booked it. I sent balloons and banners to the hotel from the UK and they put them up ready for our arrival. The location cannot be faulted. You are in the centre of all the shops and very close to the metro. The metro is by far the best way to travel and very easy to use (a lot easier than London). We booked tickets to watch Real Madrid and it was well worth the money! We also did the stadium tour another day which was also brilliant. We took a trip to Madrid Zoo which was a lovely day out. There is a wide variety of restaurants and bars surrounding the hotel. I would recommend following the life style of the Spanish as our first day there we woke early and also went out for tea early and there was not much happening. Getting up late and eating late is what you need to do. If you like walking you can walk for miles at night around the streets. The buildings are fantastic and well worth having a walk around to see all the historic statues. Back to the hotel... The buffet breakfast was lovely, so much choice. The rooms were brilliant and the rooms were cleaned every day and the beds made twice a day. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
