WOW - An excellent hotel, in an excellent location with excellent service- Loved it all. The room was nicely appointed, and bigger than a breadbox. The staff was more than willing to please you. The breakfast was first class. Hands down, this is where I will stay while visiting Madrid! The price was excellent!

Room Tip: Whatever you ask for they will do their best to accomodate you.

This hotel was in a fantastic central location - literally two minutes walk either side to the Grand Sol or the Grand Via. The rooms were quite spacious with a large bathroom and comfy beds (pillows were a bit hard though!). Breakfast was not included with our stay but there was a trendy cafe within the hotel where you could buy something light to kick start the day or opt for the 15 euro breakfast in the dining room. Our room was on the side of the hotel where noise wasn't an issue. However, our friend's room was on the front which was subject to rowdy revellers (due to its proximity to local night club) until the early hours of the morning - so ensure you ask for a room located on the side or back of the hotel. We would definately recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side and back of the hotel are quieter

Great value for the money. Staff spoke good english and were most helpful. 10 minute walk from tourist attractions, museums, Ritaro Park, excellent Naval Museum, lovely squares with tapas bars and great restaurants. Short walk to Metro which is 2 stops from Renfe Atocha train station and easy to use. My trip to Andalucia is on blogger.com and picasa. Beds nice and hard, but pillows a bit hard if one is accustomed to down soft pillows. A bit brown and dark, not fancy but a comfortable, clean, quiet place after a long day of sightseeing.
We prefer to take breakfast at the many nearby coffee shops with the locals. I prefer a light breakfast.
One can take a bus from the airport to Celebes Circle near Ritaro park and it's a 10 minute walk or easy short cab ride from there.
For history buffs take the metro to Hemingway's favorite place in Madrid's historic district for a meal.

We liked this hotel, it was great! The hotel was in an excellent location, the room and the bathroom were clean, quiet and spacious and the beds were good. Additionally, the staff was very helpful and accommodating. I would recommend this business class hotel to any Madrid vacation traveler.

This hotel is a classic older model. Nice huge lobby with lots of couches and chairs. First room had a queen but was too small. We were immediately moved to a larger room with 2 twin beds. Beds are comfortable but pillows a little thin. Maid brought us extra pillows as soon as we asked. Breakfast buffet is pretty good, especially if included with room...otherwise it's 15e per person. Best thing about this hotel is location - one block from Grand Via and 2 blocks from Puerto de Sol.

Pros: Great public areas; wonderful staff; adjacent restaurant; great location (a few short blocks between Puerta Del Sol and Gran Via)/across from Plaza Carmen, and away from main street noise, with many restaurants and shops in the area; large room (by European standards); nightly turn-down service.

Cons: Odor of either air freshener or detergent (can't pinpoint the exact smell), permeated the room, linens/towels. Because I am chemically sensitive, it was a little problematic, so had to keep the window open. I couldn't figure out if the grout around the shower was dirty, or if it was mold (I didn't want to look too closely), but the grout needed to be cleaned/replaced. Also, the water temp in the shower wasn't consistent. So when I adjusted the temp to my liking, a blast of hot water would spout out for a second, and then the temp would drop back to normal. I had to be cautious about getting burned.

Would probably stay here again.

We stayed in this Hotel for a few days after coming from Barcelona.
Positive: location, it is near puerta del sol and it gives you great access to many places in Madrid. Concierge ( Pedro was fantastic, Daniel was also helpful) were really helpful to give me info about the place. Pedro helped us to get a great sit at the Carboneras Flamenco tablao.

Negative: We understood that we were staying in a non smoking floor or hotel. We could smell the cigarette odor in the carpet. We were waiting for an elevator and we noticed a strong smoke odor around. Sudenly a cleaning lady came out or a door that said: gym, bussiness in front of the elevator ( she spray something in the air to camuflage the odor).

Beds are not comfortable and the pillows are hard, when I got home my back thanked me.
