“Good value hotel in central location”
Reviewed 30 November 2011

The hotel is well located between the Gran Via and Plaza del Sol. We took a taxi from the airport which cost around 28 euros.

The lobby of the hotel is spacious and the reception staff were efficient & concierge took our bags to the room. Our room was 330 and was a twin. The room was pleasant and spacious. The bathroom was a little bit on the tired side, but was adequate.

Breakfast wasn't included, but there are plenty of cafes nearby. The hotel is within walking distance of lots of Madrid and metro stations although we didn't need to take any ourselves.

This is a very good value hotel and I would stay here again & recommend it to others

This was our first trip to Madrid and we really wanted to use their transportation system. We used the Cercanias train (with the senior discount of 40% we got at the airport station) to the SOL station. (It did mean a transfer, but that went smooth). The walk from the SOL station was just about 5 minutes. We saved vs taking a taxi.
The Hotel is first class. The breakfast is superb and is worth the charge. They gave great recommendations for Flamengo dance show (just 2 minutes walk) and tapas. The room and bath were satisfactory. For a small charge you can use the tv as a computer if you didn't bring one.
We walked everywhere El Rastro market on Sunday, the Royal Palace, the Prada and Retiro Park.

Didn't know what to expect for 100 euros (off season), but when we walked into this elegantly appointed lobby, which reminded me of the 1930s, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was fantastic and perfectly located. Just enough off the Gran Via and Puerta del Sol to avoid the loud crowds, but close enough to be there in 2-3 minutes walk. There was also the added bonus of free hi speed internet everywhere and the reception and concierge were both very helpful. You can walk to 3 different metro lines/stations in 5 minutes so you can get anywhere in Madrid easily. Only negative; the bartender did not know how to make a White Russian. ;) Highly recommended otherwise.

Room Tip: Ask for a good view, but also ask for a room on the 5th floor.....

Stayed in November for a birthday weekend along with five family members.
Having been to Madrid before, I knew exactly where in the City I wanted to be, this is the perfect location for so many sights, shops & restaurants and this is a beautifully maintained hotel with helpful but reserved staff.
The Concierge sorted a six Seater taxi with half an hours notice- great for those who didn't want to go on the Metro again.
We had three rooms, one double and two twins, all on the third floor and all were spotless with great bathrooms- tiny tub but good shower.
I would highly recommend this hotel, three minutes walk to the best cake shop on Sol, ten to Playa Major, three to Gran Via, fifteen to the Palace- perfect!

spend your time in Madrid, not in your room and you won't be disappointed. This hotel has a wonderful staff and charming breakfast restaurant. I only stayed here one night, but the location was excellent. The only downside was that the AC was turned off (it was Nov), so my room was very hot. I opened the window, but could not get a cross breeze as my room faced the courtyard.

WOW - An excellent hotel, in an excellent location with excellent service- Loved it all. The room was nicely appointed, and bigger than a breadbox. The staff was more than willing to please you. The breakfast was first class. Hands down, this is where I will stay while visiting Madrid! The price was excellent!

Room Tip: Whatever you ask for they will do their best to accomodate you.

This hotel was in a fantastic central location - literally two minutes walk either side to the Grand Sol or the Grand Via. The rooms were quite spacious with a large bathroom and comfy beds (pillows were a bit hard though!). Breakfast was not included with our stay but there was a trendy cafe within the hotel where you could buy something light to kick start the day or opt for the 15 euro breakfast in the dining room. Our room was on the side of the hotel where noise wasn't an issue. However, our friend's room was on the front which was subject to rowdy revellers (due to its proximity to local night club) until the early hours of the morning - so ensure you ask for a room located on the side or back of the hotel. We would definately recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side and back of the hotel are quieter
