It sits right by a metro entrance covered in graffiti (what isn't in Madrid?) and is 20 mins (uphill) from the Prado. It was not a tourist area and it is situated in a neighborhood that felt comfortable yet urban. We were pleasantly surprised with its location...by fluke we chose well. If you want to stay in a spot that doesn't reek of touristy stuff...this is your hotel.

It is dated yet charming in a typical European hotel way...definitely did not feel like a Holiday Inn. We were upgraded both nights (at beginning and end of vacation) and found the staff to be wonderfully helpful. The only true negative was the horrible wifi (which seems petty, however, as an IHG member I got a survey on the hotel and was specifically asked about the wifi...so don't feel bad for mentioning here)...really bad wifi....when far from home, the Internet is a primary way of staying connected with friends and family.

The parking garage was convenient and oddly empty. FYI don't trust your rental car's GPS to get you from airport to hotel...get a map, study it, use two smartphones...and don't arrive the day of the Madrid Rock n Roll Marathon...which goes right by hotel...yeah it was an experience.

Room Tip: if you are upgraded to an executive suite in the 100s...you will be oddly surprised to find large em...

We were told that we'd had a 'platinum upgrade' but were unable to determine what this had given us - the room was exactly the same as the other doubles. Great location for transport links with both a Metro and Renfe train station outside the front door. The city centre is a 20 minute walk from the hotel. The decor was a little old, the bathrooms in particualr could do with an upgrade. If travelling from the Airport I suggest getting the train from terminal 4 rather than the Metro from Terminal 2. The train is direct and takes 35mins whilst the Metro takes 3 different changes and takes over an hour.

This Holiday Inn is not right in the centre of Madrid, but has excellent transport links to both the city and the airport as there is a suburban train and metro station right outside. The journey from Terminal 4 at the airport direct to Piramides Station on the Renfe train takes 35 mins door to door and costs about 3 euros. The hotel itself is of the standard you would expect from Holiday Inn, the room was clean & tidy and the breakfast was plentiful with both hot (sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs) and cold (cereals, cold meats, pastries) dishes. Two minor drawbacks, the main restaurant was not open during my stay-you could only eat in the bar area and the bar service was at times slow.

Room Tip: Try for a room at the back of the hotel away from the main road at the front.

Dont expect to see Platinum upgrade here. Magnificent location! Direct metro line from and to airport. Nice walk to all Madrid amenities. Beautiful riverside park 300m from hotel.
Inside: little bit old and tired and doesn't seem so clean but it's clean. Due to old carpets and furniture it only seems dirty

This hotel is not in the centre of Madrid but is in easy walking distance of the main attractions. It is close to the river which is lovely. The hotel provides a decent breakfast. The hotel is on a direct train link from the airport and also for the Metro.

Hi Reservation ,

Hope this mail of mine finds you in good health and high spirits. We are coming down to Interlaken shortly to stay with you on the 20th to 22nd April 2014 for our honey moon trip from Switzerland. Note, we are a couple from Bangkok Thailand. We have recently book our stay (via GTA - travel agent) and expect great room and services for honey moon couple.

Can you please help ensure everything meets our expectations once we are there, take this as a small favor from us as we had so much of disaster with our hotel/accomodation in Nice France. Expecting clean non-smoking room on a quiet floor. Appreciate , if you can take good care of us during our stay.

I agree entirely with the complements made by other reviewers about this hotel: excellent location (on top of the Metro and RENFE), 15 minute walk to many of the major sites, on the major bus routes for the Prado, etc, the staff are very friendly, the rooms are comfortable and clean.

However, the walls are very thin. We could hear the people next door snoring and every time a door was closed it felt as though it could be heard throughout the building. Friday night and Saturday night were particularly bad with language students and drunk groups of people coming in very loudly. Sunday was not too bad but we could still hear whenever someone went to the toilet.

The breakfast is very basic and I would not recommend it unless you can get the very cheap special offer.

Other than the thin walls, this is a good hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room (if it exists) that you can't hear the whole of the hotel.

Dear TerryMinuit,

Thank you for staying with us. I am pleased you liked your overall stay with us. Our hotel is very proud of its level of service, cleanliness and quality of its product and for this reason your comments regarding the noise are very troubling and will certainly be looked into. While we understand that your stay was not 100% satisfactory, we would hope that you would give us another chance to make your stay as best as it can be.

If there is anything we can do to make your next stay more comfortable, please do not hesitate to ask the Manager on Duty.
