“Best value for money in Barrio Salamanca.”
Reviewed 26 August 2011

I stay in Madrid regularly and have tried many options. El Jardin de Recoletos is without doubt the best value for money in my favourite area of town. Room is somewhat quirky (mini kitchen hidden behind wardrobe doors - why?) but very comfortable and well equipped. Good breakfast - location, food and service and all staff were friendly and helpful. For quality, I would stay at the Gran Fenix but it isn't nearly half as good value as the Jardin. Well done VP!

We found this hotel through a broker and were very glad we did. We had two rooms for two people, each with a full kitchen and small balcony. The rooms were clean, roomy, comfortable and in good repair, i.e., no mechanical or housekeeping complaints at all. The hotel is on a small street, actually one block long, which most taxi drivers had never heard of so I needed to tell them what main road it is off of. The front desk is manned 24/7 and the staff function as very helpful concierges as well as front desk staff. The hotel is two blocks from the archeology musuem, walking distance from the Prado and a 10 minute taxi ride from the Palace. I am definitely going to look for this hotel next time I go to Madrid.

This hotel was a perfect place to stay in Madrid. It is in a quiet section of town, which made it a nice place to return to each night after a full day of sightseeing. It is a very short walk to the metro, so all of Madrid is easy to access. With that said, you can easily walk to the Plaza Mayor or the Prado within 15 minutes. The room was spotless and spacious. We had a lovely view of the garden restaurant below. We definitely appreciated the free sodas and waters in the fridge in the room, and the free WIFI. The people at the front desk could not have been more pleasant or helpful. I would definitely return to this hotel!

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in early July.
There were 6 of us occupying two rooms. The hotel appears like nothing special from
the street. But, inside it's much nicer. Rooms are very pleasant: spacious, nicely
furnished and quiet. All amenities are present and housekeeping as well as room service
are good. Nice little tidbit was that all softdrinks in the minibar were included in the price.
After many hot/humid hours in the city, it's nice to sip some cold ones in the room
not worrying about overpriced minibar drinks :-)

We didn't try the garden restaurant but the setting is lovely. (We sat there one evening
and they have mist sprayers that take away from the summer heat).

Folks at the reception desk were very professional, friendly and helpful. They also
helped with airport transportation which worked out very nicely: a large van for EUR 45
that was both prompt and efficient.

We would definitely stay here again. Prado and Parco de Retiro are easy walking
distance from the hotel. Also, the fun part of the city is literally next door.

ok im rather late posting this review sorry guys .We travelled to Madrid in november 2010 and booked to stay at jardin for 3 nights .From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly especially as our Spanish is poor at best .The room was large with a settee and a kitchen area too ,which would be great if you were travelling with a young family .We ate in the restaurant on two occasions and the food was good as was the breakfast too.The outside seating area looked lovely but the weather was a little chilly while we were there so we didnt get to use it , I bet it is wonderful in summer .The hotel is located down a side street and so is very quiet .Near by are the boutique shops of calle de serrano, very swish . Just a few minutes walk away is the famous Retiro Park which is just stunning .I saw red squirrels and cats, lots of cats .There is so much to see in the park that you will not see it all if you are there for only a few days .We used the metro a lot and had no problems at all.It was clean well run and took us just where we wanted to go .One thing to look out for is roundabouts because in Madrid they beautiful with wonderful architecture .Also look out for the Parakeets ,very beautiful.
We flew with Easy Jet and I was a little nervous but i have to say I could not fault them .All in all a wonderful city break .All i need now is to improve my spanish and get back over there.I would not hesitate to stay at Jardin again ,clean, great staff, wonderful quiet location.

This was our second stay at this hotel and it was just as quiet and comfortable as we remembered. This is an apartment hotel with spacious rooms consisting of 1 double bed or two twin beds, and a sofa bed. The large bathroom included a shower/tub combo. The room also has a large armoire, desk and kitchenette. The kitchenette hides behind a sliding mirrored door and is comprised of a small sink, mini fridege, stove burner and microwave. The mini fridge is stocked with complimentary soft drinks and water during your stay. Upon our arrival we requested diet Coke instead of regular and the cans were switched by the time we returned from sightseeing. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet and it was one of the best breakfasts we had during our trip to Spain. The buffet includes a delicious Spanish tortilla, spanish cold cuts, cheeses, fresh fruit and juices, as well as pastries and bread. It is well worth the extra money and highly recommended This hotel is located on a quiet side street in a very nice part of the city, near metro stops, fine shopping and El Retiro park.

The reception staff was remarkable - so professional, friendly, HELPFUL in every way. The parking, though not free, was very reasonable and adjacent to the hotel. I really like that they had a computer with internet access available for free. I found that this was not always so as I traveled to other locations.

Room Tip: I just booked and got a fine room.
