Stayed there with the family summer of 2011. Close to Puerta de Alcala ,Parque del Retiro etc. Buffet breakfast convenient and varied although at times staff a bit slow to restock of items. Front desk OK ,efficient and a bit stuffy . No access to printer to print a couple of pages unless the front desk staff used their computer to access my airline reservations (" the guests use too much paper " I was told by a front desk staff ). We heard banging on walls (there was some renovation taking place on the building next door) ; when we asked about this at the front desk they responded that "they" did not hear "nada" ;) The noise was only during the day but at night it was quiet .

In late April 2012, my wife and I spent 3 nights at the hotel El Jardin de Recoletos in Madrid’s Salamanca neighborhood. For us, it was a perfect selection. A quiet neighborhood, it was within two streets from buses and the metro, making it easy to get to Madrid’s main sites. Our first stop was the Prado museum, only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel along the wide boulevard Paseo de Recoletos which became the Paseo del Prado . Along the boulevard, dozens of book sellers opened their booths in the annual antique and used book sale. While the books were primarily in Spanish, the many picture books required no translation. The staff at the hotel was uniformly friendly and helpful, running a block to the corner to hail a cab, saving the cost of calling a cab company and having the meter start even before arriving at the hotel. Large umbrellas were in the hall for guests’ use when threatening rain. While our reservation did not include breakfast, a buffet breakfast was offered at a special price upon check-in. Usually wary of these offers, this one was well worth it. There was a wide selection of items and eggs were made to order if desired. The area near the hotel had some restaurants and small cafes, but most of the stores were fashionable businesses selling men’s and women’s clothing. We stayed in what was listed as a superior room and it was large with everything needed. The hotel had a lower weekend price which made the overall value excellent for this type of accommodation.

While in Madrid last year we stayed in Jardin de Recoletos hotel, I was so happy with our choice, the location is perfect in the very nice barrio Salamanca, only a few blocks away from Puerta de Alcala and Parque El Retiro. You have 2 metro stations nearby ( Retiro and Serrano). The staff was very nice and helpful, breakfast was excellent. I loved we had a kitchen area in our room, was nice to have since we travelled with our then 10 month old daughter. Can't wait to go back to Madrid in general and would pick Jardin de Recoletos again for our stay.

We stayed at the Jardin de Recoletos for a total of seven nights, and I would definitely go back there again. The hotel is very well kept and in a great location, and the staff are friendly, courteous, and helpful! The rooms are very large and the little kitchenette area is great! We didn’t do any cooking, but it was nice to have the option and to have the small refrigerator to keep our water and snacks. There is also a coffee maker if you choose to make your own; however, I would recommend getting a café con leche from the bar each morning as one of the barristas makes the best café con leche in Europe (my husband got it each morning, so unfortunately I don’t know which person was the one that made it really well with the swirl of foam on top) This area of Madrid is beautiful and it’s an easy walk to the Prado, Plaza de Cibeles, or even to the Palacio Real. (The metro/cercania stop is just a block away if you don’t want to walk.) There are many good restaurants nearby – we really liked Mas O Menos as you could sit in their bar and have wine and little snacks (I recommend the cheese platter and the jamon iberico – wonderful!).

Room Tip: We requested a room over looking the garden based on other reviews here, and it was very quiet. I d...

We highly recommend this hotel. Very spacious and comfortable room. Responsive and helpful staff (especially Eduardo). Complimentary drinks in fridge, everything you need (except hand cream and tissues, which seem to be missing in all Spanish hotels!) Close to metro. Our room did not face the garden, but was very quiet and clean. Don't miss visiting Retiro Park - great on a sunny day. The breakfast is very good (but pricey). Some days we just got a coffee downstairs. The only down side was we did not find restaurants or a grocery we liked in the immediate vicinity.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and the location is just perfect. Away from the touristic crowds of mayor and sol and close to the shopping area in Salamanca Area. The location is very accesible to any mode of transport and we just hail a taxi bec its quite cheap considering its 3 of us.
Staff was just as good as it is. Eduardo, Manuel and the rest of the guys in the front desk was just AMAZING. They help you in veryway they can. They speak excellent english and replies to your emails quickly.
The room is large for eu standard and we had a free mini bar and some microwave and stove. It was very clean.
From the hotel to atocha train station, we only paid around 4.30-5.00 eu. From hotel to Palacio real, it was around 12 eu. From hotel to chamartin, it was around 20 eu at around 7:00am.
From the hotel, you can walk for a minute and you''ll be in shopping haven. Its around 500 meters to el cortes ingles and around 1km to the branded stores like LV, hermes, dior and etc. Prada and Loewe is just a brisk 3-4 minute walk.
Breakfast was ok for 9.95 eu. You can tell the waitress if you want eggs and bacon and they will cook it for you. They have a section for those who want milk, cookies or pastries low in sugar.Different kinds if cheese, hams, cereal, yogurt and they had this multi grain bread that i really love. Thanks Jardin!

Room Tip: Get a room with the view of the garden

Dear guest,
We are very thankful for the excellent opinion you have shared at trip advisor about your last stay at our Jardin de Recoletos hotel.
We are very happy to have overcome your expectations. We have already sent your opinion to Edu, Manuel and the rest of the reception staff about their efficiency and they are very happy and motivated.
Thank you also for the good advises you have shared with other travellers about our location and the excellent shops and points of interest that surround us.
One thing that we would really like to point out is your opinion about our breakfast. We have made a big effort in offering a complete buffet breakfast at a reasonable price thinking also in the people on a diet, we are happy to notice that you liked the “low sugar” corner of our buffet breakfast. Thank you!
We are very happy to read opinions like yours and hope to see you very soon again in our hotels, or at any other of our hotel chain: VP hoteles.
Many thanks again.

We stayed in Jardin de Recoletos for 5 nights in April '12. It is very central, 5 mins walk to Retiro Park and approx 20mins walk to the main shopping and restaurant areas. Room was large and very clean. It had a small kitchen area with a fridge which was handy. The large window opens on to a small balcony so it's easy to cool the room down. The street below is narrow and quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only problem was that the hotel didn't seem to be very well soundproofed. From 6am onwards we could hear talking and moving about from the other rooms. This is possibly partly due to the floors being tiled as opposed to carpeted. Overall though, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
