It's pretty centrally located, close to a couple of metro stations and right next to the Gran Via.
Service at the front desk was very good. We got a room with 2 single beds and the next morning we asked for a single double bed for the remainder of our stay. This was arranged without any problems.
Breakfast is ok, but can get repetitive if you stay longer than a few days. However, it's good value for money and there are enough alternatives for a better (and more expensive) breakfast in the area.

We arrived early and front desk Jesus did its best to provide our 8 rooms before 11 am. Making sure Housekeeping was working hard. It's a blessing nowadays to deal with staff that understands the stress linked to travel and air travel in particular. Most long haul flights land in Madrid in the morning, being able to do check in early is a huge perk. Second most important thing to me (aside from a clean property) is free wifi. The Sterling hotel delivered and we had a great stay. Would recommend at 70 USD per double with breakfast (great value for money)

It is close to the main attractions and the rooms are ok. We got a room with a terrace. It has a nice view of the city where you can rest and spend some time. Breakfast has some variety but if you stay more than 3 days, you can feel you eat the same things over and over. This hotel is close to the metro station and the receptionist was very helpful. The wifi works well

Was at this hotel for a weekend during the "Dia de la Musica" festival in Madrid.
Staff was very helpful and friendly and the hotel is very well located, 5 minutes from Gran Via and close to Callao metro station so it great connected to other parts of the city. highly recommended!

I was looking for a hotel in Madrid which offers a guaranteed early check-in (since our flight was arriving at 7:30am), and Hotel Sterling seemed like the best option. On their website, it is possible to guarantee a 10am early check-in for only a 20 euro one-time fee, which is extremely reasonable. Moreover, for an extra 15 euros per night, one can reserve a room with a terrace.

The location is also very good - a couple of minutes walk away from the Madrid's main street Gran Via, and not more than 15 minutes walk from any of the main attractions in the city center.

We arrived at the hotel at 9:30am, and we were told that we can check in now, but there are no rooms available with a terrace, and were offered a different room for the first night. We were tired, so agreed to move to the better room the next morning. The first room we stayed in was room 105. While all the furnishings are clean and modern, the room was rather depressing because it was at the bottom of a 6-story light well, and the only view was of a wall and another room's window a few feet away! Moreover, you could hear everything that was happening in nearby rooms - like every splash when somebody was taking a shower in the next room. So if you are claustrophobic, I wouldn't recommend any of the rooms which face the well.

The next morning we moved to the promised room with a terrace, and this was magnificent! This was room 601, and it seems like it has the best view of any of rooms - the huge terrace faces Calle San Bernardo and you can also see Gran Via from it. In fact, a few minutes after moving into this room we saw the coronation procession of the new King Felipe VI which was passing down the Gran Via! Pretty amazing.

The room itself was much more spacious than what we had before, and generally much more comfortable.

Looking at the fire escape plan, it seems that rooms 602 and 603 have similar views (although only 601 also has a view of Gran Via). Room 607 and 608 have terraces facing a different street.

Breakfast is reasonable - some cereals, a selection of cold meats, some cheese, juices, tea, coffee. Rooms have minibars, which are filled with over-priced drinks and snacks, but there is enough room if you want to put some of your own food there. There is a small Carrefour supermarket practically across the street. Note that there are no tea/coffee-making facilities in the room.

If you can spare the extra 15 euros per night for the terrace room, I highly recommend this hotel - especially if you also need an early check-in. However if you can't get a room with a terrace and/or don't need an early check-in, there may be other options.

Room Tip: Rooms 601,602, 603 have rooftop terraces facing Calle San Bernardo, with room 601 also looking towar...

Very good location in the heart of Madrid. Excellent service from all the staff especially the reception desk. Breakfast was ok. Hotel is very clean and very quite considering the busy location. I would definitely recommend and go back

Hotel Sterling is in a great location in Madrid, close to everything and walking distance to the Prado and shopping. The breakfast is a European breakfast that is good enough to set you up for a day of sightseeing. I would stay here again.
