This hotel was in the perfect location to walk to many attractions in Madrid especially Prado and Reina Sofia art museums. Close to Atocha train station. Took yellow shuttle bus from airport to Atocha station for 5 Euros. Stayed for two nights at great price. Room was small but clean. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. When stay was over, I took 5 minute walk to Atocha to catch the train to Seville. Very convenient.

A few steps from Prado or reina Sofia, and also from Atocha station, practical to catch an early train (or the bus or train shuttle to Barajas airport).
Nicely decorated lobby, quite impressive : let's say that , after, the room itself is a bit disappointing (size, furniture, bed clothes) but clean and very quiet.

I travel frequently and I don't usually have anything bad to say about the staff. I'm a simple guy; I check-in, I check-out, no big fusses. But I must say the staff at Mora is rude to the point of being unexplainable. And the incredible thing is that the restautant staff is nice and friendly. Staff aside, location is great for a visit to the art museums. It's also near Atocha station and close to the airport bus. My room was small, with a small single bed and view to the back. There was an unpleasant smell in the room coming from the toilet (now I see other people mention it as well). Overall clean. Shower with good water pressure. Free-wifi (though not working on my last 2 days there). Breakfast not included and paid breakfast is poor and expensive for what it is.

We stayed at the Hotel Mora from 10/12-10/18/12. Location is good. However, the odor emanating from their sewer connection is awful. I asked the front desk about this odor and the person on duty said it originated from the connection to the main trunk in the street and their was nothing they could do. Other guests were talking about it also. Additionally, the attitude of the front desk was curt and basically rude. I observed one of the night people in charge YELLING at some newly arrived guests! The location is good, but not really worth the the trade off in my opinion.

Room Tip: Don't!

After lots of tripadvisor searching I booked this hotel and did not regret it. Great location, 10 mins from Atocha station and almost across the road from the Prado. Particularly liked the
friendly welcome. Room was more than adequate for a 2-night stay and very clean. Wifi functioned OK in the room (ask reception for the code). Previous reports had talked of a 'funny smell' in some rooms but we decided that is probably the effect of hot weather on old carpet! The rooms really are crammed into the old building so we could hear every move in the corridoor and in the bathroom next door (and every pulling of chain, use of hairdryer etc).

Nice cafe with friendly staff downstairs, just the place to get breakfast (but NB no chocolate and churros on a sunday!). Overall..... I know...it's quite a lot of money to get a good 'basic' hotel in Madrid, but this was really OK.

We left a fancy hotel to move here. We were so glad we did. This is not a fancy hotel by any means. But it is well located; the staff are great; rooms clean, has wi-fi. The rooms are definitely no frills so if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, this place is not for you.
This is a travelers' hotel and a good one. Air conditioning can be a little noisy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street Alcala as they are quieter.
