“Noisy and smelly”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2011

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on a short break to Madrid. The hotel itself is in a good location, but that's about the only good point we can describe.

We had room 504 which smelt like something had died in there. There was a constant smell of rotten cabbage and sewage in the room. In order to survive we had to open the window, but it was absolutely impossible to sleep because of the noise. Even if we did close the window, there was screaming and shouting all night, and all night deliveries (banging, clashing). We barely got any sleep for the entire 2 nights, and it completely ruined our holiday.

The walls in the room were paper thin and even had holes in them, we could hear the people next door talking.

The room supposedly had free WiFi, but we couldn't get any signal in the room. We had to go into the hallway or reception to get a signal.

The hotel was under renovation, and there were better rooms. However, the staff said they couldn't move us to another room as the hotel was full. The staff aren't very friendly (apart from the guy on the night-shift).

The breakfast was awful, they only had a small collection of bread, ham and cheese. The coffee was undrinkable (Extremely strong cheap coffee). I know this is a 2* hotel, but it is by far the worst 2* hotel we've ever stayed in.

I highly recommend you DO NOT stay in this hotel. Apart from the excellent location, there is nothing good I can write about it.

Room Tip: Avoid room 504. Although I'm sure all the other rooms are equally noisy.

location is fantastic as is the breakfast. stairs are a problem but the guys will carry your bags to the lift if they are around.rooms are refurbished stylishly but ask for a door to the bathroom if you want privacy when you go to the toilet.dont book any activities or tours through the hotel. the tour company they use is chaotic and unreliable. also organise your own tickets to the bullfight- the guy who is losing his hair behind the desk charged us 30e for 11e tickets which we could easily have got on the day. we were told they were hard to get. it is our own fault for being naive but it reflects badly on the hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a door in the bathroom

This hotel is good value for money and a excellent buffet breakfast, the staff are polite and helpful and we had a refurbished room on the second floor with balcony, it was noisey but we did realise it would be in the area it was, close to underground and all shops ,tapas bars and local attractions, so it was a perfect location for a 4 day city break.
We took the 2 euro bus from the airport which was again good value for money and runs 24 hours a day, then a short ride on the underground to the hotel.
Only thing the hotel room lacked was a full length mirror in the room, apart from that it had all you would need.

Room Tip: If a light sleeper mention it so you could possibly get a room at the back.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. I had a long flight, and was able to check in and get my room immediately, which was much appreciated, as I came straight from the airport. I had a lovely, refurbished room with hardwood floors, white walls, nice linens (big soft pillows), and a flat screen T.V. There was also a small refrigerator. Everything was absolutely spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very modern and there was plenty of hot water. The room overlooked the pedestrian street, with a large arched window framed in granite. Although there was no actual balcony to stand on, it was nice to be able to open up the big window. I enjoyed having a street side room, but it was a little noisy at night. It might have been quieter on one of the higher floors. Any light sleepers would probably be better off in a rear room, as there is foot traffic on the street below, which continues into the late hours.

The location of the hotel was great – close to many attractions, restaurants, and the metro. The breakfast was fine - enough to get you going in the morning. The area felt very safe, yet lively and fun. This hotel was an amazing value – great price and a very comfortable, stylish room. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room. Street side rooms are great for people watching! Light sleepers should a...

We were a bit worried about the noise factor but it wasn't an issue at all. We had a newly decorated room at the back and were pleasantly surprised. The room was very comfortable and clean and we had no noise at night, Breakfast had a great selection with something for everyone.
The location is wonderful and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to visit and the area is full of restaurants and bars so lunch and dinner were easily taken care of.
I especially found the staff very helpfull and courteous.
A wonderful bargain if you are spending a few days in Madrid.

Room Tip: We had a room for 3 at just €5 more than a double - so being just the 2 of us we had plenty of space...

This hotel is in a fab location, really handy for everything with plenty of restaurants and cafes close by. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room itself was fabulous gorgeous decor, extremely comfortable beds and great bathroom - all lovely and clean and modern. Dining room has not yet been refurbished in line with the rest of the hotel but it was clean and neat with a wide selection for breakfast. The street is noisy at nice but you wouldn't expect anything else in a bustling city! An absolute bargain for the price never though we'd get such quality at such a good price. highly recommended!

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Location is fab, 2 minutes to Sol and Opera and 5 minutes to the Rastro. The hotel is being refurbushed so make sure you get one of the newly redecorated rooms, more expensive than standard ones but definitely worth the difference. Breakfast was included and it was quite good. It can however get noisy at night but this is the price to pay when yuo want to stay in the center. Wil definitely come back!

Room Tip: Get one of the new ones, the old ones are cheaper but very dated.
