“Madrid City Tour”

There is a lot to do in Madrid if you map out your excursion and you would not need this tour at all. 21€/pp and no entrance fees included. Route 1 is for more traditional sites. For same fee both 1 & 2 tours are included. We got off at the Palacio Madrid and walked the rest of our trip...which was not far to Plaza Major. Basically you are just zipping through traffic looking at buildings until you want to get off.

“Too pricy, but there's no competition”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We like starting off our (usually short) vacations with a guided bus tour, such as this, simply to get the look and feel of the city and then to decide which attractions worth a second look.
And since we‘ve done many similar tours recently I can say it’s the most expensive so far. 21 Euros per person and it’s not negotiable. Senior citizens and children get great discounts, so if I were over 60 I would probably adore.
Yes, it did take us to all the major sites (the ones accessible by car), and there was sufficient commentary. I would be completely satisfied with it if it cost half of what it does.
But – and that’s the key – right no there’s no alternative to this tour so you are going to take it anyways.

“See the city in style”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

This trip, especially if you are 65 + is a great bargain at 9E for the day. We did both route 1 and route 2. Each is about an hour, and the narrative, through headphones, is given in many languages. The tour tells lots of interesting facts about the buildings, statues, fountains, and surrounding areas of Madrid. You can ride the whole hour straight through or hop off to see more of a location and catch another bus, just by showing your ticket. There is an upper deck which can have the tarp top rolled back for better viewing.
Great fun on a. Ice day.

This tour cost 21 Euro. The man we bought our tickets from encouraged us to add an additional day for 4 Euro but we did not. I recommend you also do not, and I might consider skipping this tour altogether.

I have used these tours before, and some of them are excellent. My philosophy is that even if it isn't quite a bargain, at least you get a nice commentary about the city and a free way to jaunt around the city between sites. However we found that neither of these benefits panned out for us.

First, the commentary was awful. It was clear and available in many languages. They even have a kids channel (English) with simplified commentary. However the commentaries were brief and simplistic separated by many minutes of terrible music. We did not pay to listen to music. There is no reason that the music couldn't have been replaced with with more about Spain's history, which is rich with plenty to discuss. Also, sometimes the commentary was about a building that we had already passed, so that we had no idea what was being discussed. I complained about this and they blamed it on their GPS system, which is of no concern to me. We pay for them to work these details out, right?

Second, we found that when trying to take the bus to simply get around town we were told the bus we got on was going out of service after 2 stops and that we had to get off and wait. More out of service buses arrived so that after 15 minutes of waiting there was a giant throng of anxious people. Finally after enough complaints they decided to put one bus back into service. The whole affair seemed like a comedy show, with staff on the phone negotiating with HQ and customers milling about wondering what was happening. We should have just walked.

This bus company needs to step up their game.

“Great way to see the City of Madrid”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

Enjoyed riding both bus lines to see Madrid on our first day there. The recorded commentary was clear and informative. It was nice to hop on and off as we explored the city.
