We stayed here for 2 nights in March and loved it. Location is perfect, just a 2 minute walk from Plaza Mayor and surrounding by great tapas bars and restaurants.

The bar area downstairs is always busy with a great atmosphere and fantastic tapas.

We recieved a really friendly welcome and even though we arrived at 11am we checked straight into our room as it was ready.

Each floor in the room has a theme. The rooms are small, but very clean and gorgeous furnishings. Be warned - this may not be the place for you if you are sharing a room with friends rather than as a couple - there is no real segregation between the bathroom and bedroom, the toilet has a frosted door and the shower a clear glass one.

The only minor flaw was that as we were staying in 'winter' (was 23 degrees outside) the airconditioning was set to heat only, as a consequence we found the room quite hot and there was no way to cool it down. This wouldn't be a problem in summer though as they would re set it to cool.

Comfy beds, good hairdryer, shower amazing - what more do you need!

Would definitely stay again, a great find

Room Tip: Rooms have either a window or a courtyard view

Hi Sarah,
Thank you very much for writing a review on Tripadvisor. It is fantastic you spent good days here in Madrid as well as at the hotel.
We know bathrooms are not so private as expected, but we are sure, that's we make us different from the others, and people as you knew appreciate it and taking the advantage of this type of room.
As you know, we have various kind of rooms, we suggest you, once you come back, please you ask for a new different room to spend your free days.
About the hot in room, we apologize for that due to the weather is crazy. We have set the hot air in rooms until the cold is gone. Now is snowing in Madrid and the temperature is very cold.
Have a nice week Sarah,
Our very best regards,

We stayed here with our children aged 13 and 11 for four nights in February and would thoroughly recommend the hotel. The location is perfect - close to the Plaza Mayor, within walking distance of the art galleries and Royal Palace and on a street with plenty of excellent restaurants - and yet wonderfully quiet rooms. Breakfast was good - freshly baked croissants, pains aux raisins, yoghourts, fruit salad, freshly squeezed orange juice, fantastic coffee and hot chocolate for the children. There was also a cooked breakfast available, lots of fresh bread and preserves and delicious Spanish omelette if you had room. The rooms were funky in design - not huge, but with excellent showers, room safe etc. and comfortable memory foam mattresses. The hotel also has a lovely restaurant/tapas bar frequented by Madrilenos so you feel part of the place very quickly. Service was delightful - this is a new hotel run by enthusiastic and happy staff and deserves to do really well!

I don't want to give this property bad comments because it is a good choice for people who want to be in the heart of the party neighborhood. We did not know Madrid when we chose this hotel and as more mature travelers we would have preferred a less crowded area. Many would like the hotel and its rooms, which are small but minimalist and trendy in design. Again, we would have preferred a larger room with more traditional furnishings and comfort. For example, the room was so small that there was really nowhere to be except in or on the bed. In our case, the door to the room opened directly into the bathroom (strange). On the plus side the shower was great. Also, the prices for food and drinks in this area is considerably higher than other parts of the city; however, most of central Madrid is easily reachable within a maximum 20 minute walk or from multiple metro stops. The hotel staff was welcoming and friendly. Check-in (and the "front desk") is in a bar on the ground floor which can get noisy and crowded. There is no lobby for hotel guests, and it can be disorienting and annoying to have to navigate a crowded bar to check in or get to your room. Also, noise from the bar could be an issue due to an open central courtyard off of which all rooms open, and I would imagine that rooms on the front (street side) would get a lot of noise at night from the street. Despite my negative observations this is a very nice place for what it is. It just wasn't ideal for us.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back unless you plan to party until dawn.

Hello Frantica,
First of all, we would like to say thank you for the comment you have writen. You are so kind to put a review on this site in order to everybody have further information about us despite of you were not so comfortable as you thought. We are sorry beacuase we were not the kind of hotel you expected. That is truth to reach the front desk you have to cross the bar and for many people is like and adventure, and it enjoys theirselves. But not always happens this situation and you don't see overcrowed on the bar. It depens on the schedule.
All rooms have a special situation duet to they are distribuited across the "corrala" (courtyard). All prices we have in our place are moderate and not too higher if you compair with the others.
We would love that the next time you visit Madrid, you can come back to say hello. We would appreciate it.
Thank you very much again for comment.
Regards,

I was only in Madrid for one day so didn't spend too much time in the hotel, but the facilities in the room were great - a delightfully comfortable bed, great rain shower and awesome tapas bar downstairs with delightful food. The waiters downstairs were awesome in recommending places with the San Miguel Market just down the road which was pretty nice and the Puerto del Sol Plaza Mayor a mere 5 minutes walk away. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a decent spot in the heart of madrid.

Room Tip: I chose one one the road which wasn't a problem as it was midweek but I would recommend one faci...

I would recommend it to anyone travelling as a couple or alone. It is a beautifully decorated hotel, with a lot of history around its walls, very clean and taken care of. It was a great experience, in a fantastic area and very helpful staff. The food from the bar is really good as well. On top of that, it is very close to La Plaza Mayor and the main attractions in Madrid.

Very good location, full of bars and restaurants. Opened in the summer of 2011.
Very nice design rooms, but still very faithful to the original "posada" (inn).
Not really 4 stars in service, too small for that. But still very friendly people work here.
Super breakfast.
Perfect for 25-40 year olds, planning to have some fun.

What a find in Madrid - Posada del Dragon is a seductive, fun, combination of very good bed, great breakfast, affordable, and amazing location - executed by a team of slick professional staff. The location is in the heart of Madrid's tapas laneways only minutes walk from just about anything. An unconventional but very cool reception is the buzzing bar - and immediately we were right where we wanted to be in Madrid. Exceptional tapas with a contemporary take, good wine list, an immensely (and justifiably) popular bar is the front for very comfortable rooms. Considerately, the doors between the hotel and bar do close at midnight to afford some peace for the residents (if they are there). And the only slight compromise you need to make is - do I take the quiet rooms, with no windows (not right for fresh air fiends) - or, the larger rooms with fresh air and balcony and accept that I'll hear Madrid party into the early hours (or the bottle collection on Monday morning). WiFi is good, housekeeping great, and overall atmosphere just fantastic.... will be back!

Room Tip: You need to choose between fresh air and noise - but in that location, you'd be completely unrea...
