We absolutely loved our experience at La Posada del Dragón. Our room was quiet despite facing the street. It was roomy, the bed was comfortable, the air-conditioning was well appreciated, and the shower was awesome. The staff at reception was very friendly and helpful and speak English well. When you walk into the hotel, reception is located next to the bar. It can be a little confusing the first time, but the plus side is that they greet you with a drink and some olives when you check in. Breakfast is tasty and convenient, but you can probably find cheaper options in the neighborhood. The hotel is well located in the heart of La Latina. All-in-all a great experience and very good value for the price.

Our first stay in Madrid and we found the best little boutique hotel right off the bat! Conveniently located in the heart of the old city amongst tapas bars and nightclubs, Posada Del Dragon provided the central location from which to explore this wonderful city. The staff were exceptionally friendly and happy to help with anything we required. The rooms were freshly renovated and had all of the mod cons. The balcony from our room overlooking the street provided a picturesque view of the surrounding buildings and goings on on the street below. But it was the level of service and attitude of the wonderful staff that made this little gem of a place a true pleasure to stay in. I would recommend it to everyone (and probably will ! ) Do yourself a favour, book it today!

We stayed at the Posada Del Dragon for four nights from 18th July booked through a Voyage Prive promotion. We'd thoroughly checked the Tripadvisor reviews before deciding to book, and this hotel seemed right up our street - small, friendly and in a vibrant area.
After successfully negotiating the Madrid Metro from the airport we emerged at La Latina metro station, and hotel was a short walk from there.
The hotel is on Calle Cava Baja - one of the most popular tapas streets in Madrid - though at 5:00pm the road was very quiet and sleepy. We were given a free drink on arrival and shown to our room (107) on the first floor overlooking the internal courtyard.
The rooms were small, but have stayed in much smaller in Paris and Rome, and were beautifully and tastefully decorated. Any worries that noise from the internal courtyard tables, which were also part of the bar and restaurant, would keep us awake were unfounded as we slept incredibly well during our stay. This was in no small part due to the incredibly comfortable pillow and mattress.
Due to the compact size of the room there was no space for a wardrobe, so if staying for a week or longer this may be a problem. There was however a rail for hanging clothes above the mini bar which served us perfectly as we lived in t-shirts and shorts for the duration of our stay.
There was a powerful hairdryer which could be plugged into the numerous sockets dotted around the room or in the bathroom.
The bathroom was well stocked with huge bath towels, shampoo, shower gel and body lotion, and the shower was extremely powerful.
Breakfast was served in the bar downstairs where you had a choice of fruits, fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals, cheese, ham, croissants and jams, breads, with eggs freshly cooked to order.
We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as there were so many restaurants to choose from but did eat in Calle Cava Baja on two occasions in different restaurants. The street comes alive after 10pm though it never seemed rowdy - just full of locals enjoying themselves.
La Latina was a wonderful part of Madrid - just off the main tourist hub - full of winding streets with little squares and churches, and close to the El Rastro Sunday market. We managed to cover all of the areas of Madrid which we wanted to see on foot, including Malasana, Cheuca, El Retiro Park, Lavapies, Huecas.
I would thoroughly recommend Posada Del Dragon.

My husband and I stayed three nights. It was a fantastic very well run hotel/ bar. The location was excellent. There is a small restaurant attached which we ate at twice and wished it had been three times. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Based on our experience this hotel and bar wiill thrive. The rooms were very comfortable and clean.

We will remember this hotel and Madrid fondly

Room Tip: It was a tad noisy at night due to being in a restaurant strip/hub, but we had such busy days that w...

The Posada del Dragon reminded me of why I love small hotels. We paid half the rate of a normal run of the mill hotel and got triple the amount of value. The staff were really helpful and spoke good English. We got a free glass of wine on check in because our room was 5minutes (!!) late in being ready. Rooms were spotlessly clean and cleverly designed. No external window, but that didnt seem to matter. The area is brilliant for food and drink and one can walk to many of Madrid's attractions.

My boyfriend and i stayed here for three nights and we loved it. The location is amazing. The street is full of tapas bars which are frequented by locals so it doesn't feel touristy at all.

The hotel itself was lovely. Clean, modern and the facilities were good. We had a balcony room which was larger than the pictures suggested and really well equipped. I emailed the hotel a few days before and requested that we had a top floor room which i was told would be accommodated if possible and it was. We had a lovely view from the room. The room had a very reasonable priced mini bar and a safe and enough towels for each of us which can be a bit of a rarity. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the shutters made it very easy to siesta and sleep late!

The only thing that would have improved the room was a full length mirror and for the shower gel etc to be replenished every day. We also sleep with earplugs so if there was noise (as mentioned in other reviews) we didn't hear it.

We didn't eat at the hotel but we did drink at the bar and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel as somewhere that is very well located and brilliant value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor and book a balcony room.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights here and it was great. This is a nice, trendy, and reasonably priced hotel above a tapas place. The rooms were quite modern and clean. The location is awesome -- right in the middle of Madrid on a street with great food. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant below has really great tapas as well. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room.
