Well we booked this hostal after reading the reviews on trip advisor and we must admit this was a great place to stay. It was bang in the centre of things where everything was accessible. You infact have a Romanticism museum right opposite of the hostal. It has absolutely amazing rooms with great hospitality by the owners (Jose). Jose is a great host and he helped us at every step. He is infact a very lively and super friendly man who is always high on energy. The hostal is on the 2nd floor but the owner was extremely helpful with our luggage. You have to simply ask for it and he obliges and assists without any hiccup. The ambience of the room was fantastic with nice aesthetic sense, with beautiful and clean bathrooms. They clean and make up your bed everyday. Its a quite hostal. The nearest metro station is tribunal which is about 200 metres from the hotel. Also, there is carrefour express nearby which will help you with your basic needs at rock-bottom prices. The hostal overlooks Romantic museum which also has a beautiful garden area for breakfast. There are also many pubs nearby and a 24hours supermarket in the adjoining lane. The tap water is potable. Its worth every penny as it is centrally located, safe, clean and with great hospitality. Must stay.

Room Tip: You can choose from a quite room and street facing room. Street facing room is supposedly noisy but...

Cheap place right in the centre of things. Really nice owner who does his best with english and is super friendly. clean rooms and very comfortable beds. What else do you need?? Only difficult thing is getting there and lugging bags up several flights of steps!! Be prepared!

Very nice place with a central location, the metro station is too close. Also the romanticism museum is directly infront of the hostel. It's very good value for money. Rooms are spacious & tidy. The owner "Jose" is extremely friendly, I would like to thank him as he helped us in our "excess" luggages & went to grab a taxi for us at our departure. If you need a clean & tidy place only to sleep over at night after a long touristic day then Hostal Benamar will be the good choice.

What everyone with 4/5 star rating has said is right.
The location is superb, the cleanliness without question and the staff go over and beyond the call of duty.
In Madrid, nobody speaks English but here, at the Benamar, they try their best and always have a smile.
When you meet the owner, ask his advice( and take it). Local knowledge is only of value if freely given. His is.
Breakfast across the street is good value( very cheap for eurozone) and try to find time for a journey to Toledo(DIY, by train, then book a tour when you get there- do it from Madrid and ripoff is the mode)

My husband and I found this place on tripadvisor and stayed here for a week for a quick vacation on a budget. First time in madrid. Location is perfect, one block (or less) from the metro station. Many places to eat and drink around here.. ask José (the owner I think) about Madrid Madriz and the churros place (we went to both this places almost every day!)
Ask him about Paella as well, he recommended "La Barraca" restaurant, we had dinner there and it was AMAZING! .. walking distance too! This is a must do! seriously.
Ask him about the best "Bocadillos" in town! You'll be happy!
This hostal was great. It's not modern or fancy but you'll get Amazing value, super clean room with a private bathroom, flat tv, air conditioning and free wifi. And the best host/owner ever! So friendly and helpful!
We can't wait to be back!

The situation of this place was excellent. It is near all shops, bars and tourist attractions. Not too noisy as it is on a quiet street. This is a budget hotel but very clean, with computer, good wifi and flat screen TV. The sign is easy to miss as it is above the first floor. Don't come with heavy suitcases though I was lucky and everyone helped me up the stairs. The owner was very helpful and even carried my bags downstairs and waited until I got a taxi to the airport. The hotel feels more like and apartment hotel. It was great value for the money and I would definitely go back.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August and were very impressed with the value and facilities of this hostal.
The first impression is a little daunting, as in Madrid apparently it is common for hostels to be on upper floors. We carried a heavyish suitcase up 3 floors (carpeted) before we found the reception area. But once there the staff could not have been friendlier and the rooms were so well equipped. In August to have functioning airconditioning and a fridge in the room were a big plus, but there was even a flat screen TV and a computer workstation in each room!
The location is great, within easy walking distance of so much in the centre of Madrid, and with even a 24 hour shop on a nearby corner.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the street seem larger, but at the back, with no view, are much quieter, so can be...
