“Park with Views”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

A nice little park that is probably more famous for having the Egyptian temple set in it. However there are also some great views from here looking out towards the surrounding countryside and the other way towards the Palace. In summer it is a little difficult to see the main body of the palace due to the leaves on the trees but you can see the Cathedral. At time of writing there were several big cranes working by the palace so this kind of spoils the picture but hey ho...!

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Parque del Oeste is a beautiful quiet park with magnificent views. The Templo de Debod is worth seeing as it is the only full-scale ancient Egyptian temple outside of Egypt. And La Roseleda (Rose Garden) is magnificent. The park has statues scattered throughout. The last time I was there in 2011 it was fun joining in with the Tai Chi classes and wandering about the park.

“A Tranquil Place”
Reviewed 7 March 2013

I enjoy walking at the Parque del Oeste because it is a tranquil place, usually with few people. The Templo de Debod is nice to see and take photos. In the background you can see the skyscrapers of the Plaza de España.

“Guide book photography raises your expectations...”
Reviewed 4 March 2013 via mobile

In real life this is a slightly disappointing sight when the guide book photography has made the monument seem so impressive.

You think Egyptian monument and the scale of a sphinx or pyramid comes to mind. This is a much smaller scale.

Once you're over that you can venture inside for a look at the monument's history and that's where it gets interesting. I enjoyed learning about the hyroglyphs and story of it's past.

A good 20-30 minute diversion. Free.

“Impressive”
Reviewed 6 November 2012

It deserves a visit.
It is a very spiritual sense that you feel inside the temple.
There is even visual documents that you can follow inside.
The view from the park to the "Casa de Campo" is also great.
