Now it's just an avenue with a lot of cars and noise. Much better to walk 300 metres further and visit the El Retior park a litlle more east.

Except the museo del prado you can well see, other buildings are hided by the trees (I like trees, nevertheless) and traffic is terrible and stressing. There is a poor interest in walking along the paseo. Other better choice : start from Sol, take calle San Jeronimo, go along the congreso, ther is a nice perspective on the fontana de neptuno and the paseo

Great place for a leisurely stroll to take in the stunning architecture of the surrounding buildings and fountain. There are numerous cafés, bars and restaurants, with street artists and craft stalls dotted around. Worth a peek at the Ritz, although wouldn't pay the exorbitant prices !

This paseo was very close to my hotel (Villa Real) and also led me right to the Thyssen-Bornemizra (spelling wrong) museum. I thought it was beautiful.
