This is basically the preserved house of a very rich marquis from 150 years ago. As a glimpse into Madrid high society of the late 19th century, it is unbeatable. There is a lot to see, much of it gilt and shiny. Occasional good pieces - one El Greco, some excellent samurai armour and some nice oddities but it is an experiential visit rather than a series of exhibits. Well worth €3 - check for free times and note it closes at 3.
