Really good hotel recently refurbished. Bedrooms very nice with huge king size bed and large bathroom with walk in shower. Hotel staff very attentive and helpful. Location of hotel is perfect with just a short walk to Peurta Sol and therefore most other tourists spots. We didn't use the restaurant as menu not great and looks a bit pricey for the standard of food. With so many good restaurants just along the street and side streets we ate out each night.

Location is hard to beat. One of the best in Madrid. The building right in front of the door will be Madrid's first Four Seasons so you can bet it is not a bad place :). Staff and hotel are OK... nothing terrible or glorious to write about.

Though the hotel does not look particularly big from the street, it is enormous inside, with plenty of corridors. Consequently most rooms face tiny courtyards (I counted 10 or 11 of them in the emergency plan). This can be an issue if you are looking for views or daylight. However this is not uncommon in hotels in central Madrid, but this is the most extreme case I have ever seen.

It seems some rooms are renovated and others are not, hence the different opinions and reviews (and prices).

I stayed at a very tiny single room for about 30 USD (dirty cheap). It was OK for a short layover and excellent for that price. But at a higher price, I would look at different options around the area (there are plenty of them).

Good if you are planning to stay most of the day outside and just want an affordable clean room to crash at night at an excellent location.

We stayed at the Regina for two nights and were really happy with our stay. The location was central and very easy to find. The rooms were recently renovated so they were clean and classy. The only downfall about the room is the size and the layout. The the bedroom is located right near the door so the noise from people coming back to their room was disruptive. My advice would be to check your room location. We were blown away by the buffet breakfast. The best variety of delicious delights. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Madrid.

I am giving this Excellent rating because I had the best breakfast here of my stay in Spain! Would stuff myself crazy :) They even have gluten-free section, pint sized desserts for breakfast etc., and the service is excellent. The second reason is because of the gentleman in the concierge who is very helpful with planning the itinerary. Was there the week of Christmas, I had planned my schedule to the dot before hand, but he gave me a print-out of which museums were free & changed my schedule based on that. Guided which train times suited the best for Toledo & Segovia day-trips and also bought the tickets for me, provided maps marked with places to see, where to eat etc.. He is extremely patient.

When I arrived, the single room had thermostat issues and was like a sauna so was upgraded to a double room for no extra cost. I should say though the walls are on the thinner side, so you can hear doors slamming and people in floor above walking, would just suggest to have an extra glass of wine in the restaurant below to sleep better :)

Since we were not arriving in Madrid until 6:00 pm one evening and leaving by noon the next day, my husband and I wanted a hotel that was in the centre of the action but was not too expensive. The Hotel Regina fit the bill perfectly. The location was perfect for us and we were lucky to get a very good rate for a deluxe room. Given the reasonable price for the hotel we were not expecting much. Were we ever pleasantly surprised. We were given a quiet room on a top floor with tons of character and a large bathroom. The piece de resistance was the private terrace off of our room. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We could not have been more delighted with our choice of hotels and will definitely stay there again next time that we are in Madrid.
