We'd highly recommend this hotel. The location is great. We could walk to most sights. Even though it is in the centre of Madrid, it was very quiet, although we did have an interior room, as requested. The beds were firm and comfortable, and the bathroom was a generous size. The place was also very clean. The cafe was decent and busy. The hotel was atmospheric. Overall very friendly and attentive staff. We would definitely stay here again upon our return to Madrid.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for an interior room.

We loved the convenience of Hotel Europa. The staff was helpful, even fluent in English. Many, many restaurants and stores within close walking distance, Metro stop just outside the door, as well as the Hop on, Hop off buses. It was very clean and comfortable. It's walkable to the Palace Real, a must-see in Madrid.

This was our third stay at the Hotel Europa--we have now completed the Camino de Santiago which we did in segments. Each time we stayed at the Hotel,Europa one night after arriving in Madrid and then the night before our flight back to the states. Many of the staff in the hotel and restaurant remain the same and they are pleasant and helpful. We prefer a room on the inner courtyard as it is quieter although the double windows really do block out the noise. The rooms are not fancy but beyond clean and the beds are comfortable . They had a special "pilgrim" rate which included breakfast --eggs, toast, juice and the best cafe con leche in Spain!

I liked Hotel Europa a lot. Wonderful location and staff was helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I Iiked the fact that right next door is an affordable place for breakfast as well and fun sidewalk cafe out front where you felt like you were at the center of the action in Madrid. The only drawback for me was that I found the beds to be too hard but that is very much a personal preference thing.

We actually found this hotel on trip advisor and also Rick Steve's, and stayed here for 4 nights, which is how much time you need in Madrid. Clean, quiet, and best location for all the sites. Would highly recommend it. And very reasonable too!

We had a room overlooking the square with a great view but it was not noisy at night. The location was excellent in the middle of Peurta del Sol and walking distance from most of the big sites in the old part of town and right on a central metro stop. The rooms were very comfortable and up to date. The wifi was the fastest we had on our 9 day 3 hotel trip to Spain. The staff was courteous and very helpful and made me feel they were genuinely interested in making our stay at their hotel and their city the best it could be. I will stay here again on my next trip to Spain!

Stayed 3 nights in the first week in May. I don't see how you could find a better hotel for the price in the center of the city. We had a room facing the square and it was great to watch the crowds and street performers while relaxing in your room. Close the windows to block out the sound. Walking distance to almost everywhere, and if that's not your thing, the subway is literally steps away. Front desk help was excellent and speaks English! One word of advice: when arriving for the first time on the subway, we were looking for Puerta del Sol. Vodaphone, a wireless company, bought the naming rights and the stop is 'Vodaphone Sol'.

Room Tip: Chose an upper room that faces the square if you want to get the entire experience!
