“Best Place to Stay”

This hotel was amazing!
Amazing Service: always extremely helpful with plans.
They will store your luggage as well!

Clean nice rooms. Very clean and nice bathrooms, lots of beautiful stone.

The location is right on Puerta del Sol. So close to everything. Great for sight seeing and being in the center. I was on a top floor and the noise was not detectable but I also was not on the Puerta del Sol side.

Breakfast in the adjoining café was very good. I would recommend the croissant and cafe con leche.

The patio for cafe was great too for people watching! Best sangria I found!!

The decor was nice and also classy.

Overall extremely happy!!!

I spent a week at Hotel Europa. It was great. Conveniently located in Puerta del Sol. You couldn't ask for a more ideal location -- lots of restaurants and shops nearby, close access to the subway (just steps away from the hotel), near Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel, etc. And near all of the crowds (and sometimes demonstrations) in Sol. If there was one complaint....it was that the air conditioning was completely inadequate (and I'd hate to see what it would be like at the height of summer!). But overall, a great hotel.

You would have trouble finding a more centrally located hotel in Madrid. The Sol square is literally at the centre of Madrid and you're within walking distance of most sights and shopping areas. We had a room facing the back yard which was conveniently quiet despite the lack of a view. The standard of the room was perfectly fine, if not exactly luxurious - including the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend you to book your room via the hotel website, for some reason that was a lot cheaper than via any of the main booking sites.

We stayed at the Europa for four nights at the end of May 2014. If you want a location at which you will experience the maximum bustle and energy of Madrid, this is it. However, be prepared for a lot of noise as well, particularly for rooms facing the Puerta del Sol. We had a "superior" room facing the plaza, with a small balcony large enough for two people to stand on. It was certainly exciting to witness the celebrations of Real Madrid's victory in the municipal football championship. Not so exciting(for us) that the partying went on to 4AM. On normal nights, things quieted down around midnight. The substantial, soundproof, double pane windows were only partially successful in mitigating the blare of amplified noise that fills the plaza in the evenings.

Other than the noise, the location is certainly convenient for walking to most of the main sites you might want to visit in a short trip to Madrid. Or you can hop on the Metro, which has a stop on the Plaza and is reasonably priced for an occasional ride. You will also not lack for places to eat or drink in the neighborhood.

The room itself was quite cramped (especially as it was billed as a superior room) and the room decor was tired. The furniture was never top quality to begin with and it was not aging well. The bathroom was up-to-date, but even here there was noticeable wear that a better run hotel would have remedied.

The wi-fi in our room was spotty. Mobile devices picked it up OK, but not computers. I needed to login my computer in the lobby, where the signal was apparently stronger, and then I was able to keep the connection after returning to the room.

The personnel were all friendly and helpful. The room and hotel were clean. It is not a hotel I would return to, but if you want to experience life in one of the great plazas of Europe, it is worth a booking.

Would definitely stay at Hotel Europa again. The rooms were clean and well furnished. The price was fair and the location was half a block from the metro. There is an attached restaurant that is convenient and good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard on an upper floor as they are quieter.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we were blown away! The location was fantastic (right on Puerta del Sol) and everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. The cafe attached to the hotel is lovely as well.

My companion and I stayed 9nights at Hotel Europa in May. We had found it through trip advisor and reading reviews learned to ask for a high floor corner room with 2 balconies,( arranging this 4 months ahead with considerable savings) from which we observed life in the Puerta del Sol. Life included acrobats, blue shotting stars, a protest by pensioners- one evening a smal brass band , followed by men carrying a statue of the Virgin We tried two neighborhood breakfasts but settled into the hotel's breakfast . outside when possible. The staff were courteous, helpful and reliable. We travel a lot and were grateful for what we found here.

Room Tip: High floor corner room.
