Just come back from a 4 night stay here. The hotel is in a brilliant location within walking distance to all the major sights. Hotel very clean and comfortable with superb staff. Would not hesitate in recommending and we WILL be back.

Stayed in this hotel recently. fantastic location with Santa Domingo and plaza espana metro stops just feet away. Great spa in hotel also although residents have to pay to use it. Very clean rooms too.

This is not a four-star hotel, at least in my books.

The property has a number of facilities (pool, spa, etc) which probably led to that rating, but don't be fooled into thinking you will get a luxurious room. The rooms are a good size, particularly for Europe, but the bedding and furniture has seen better days and it all looks a bit shabby.

When we got back to our room late after a dinner out, the floor our room was on smelled distinctly like a sewer. We went down to the desk to ask if someone could investigate/clean/spray air freshener but there was only one person on the desk, so he said he could do nothing. He did offer to have us change rooms, but by now it was midnight, we had unpacked earlier when we'd gotten in off of a long haul, and my husband was in his jammies, so we opted to sleep with the windows open all night instead.

We did like that the windows offered good soundproofing and except for the first night, weren't too bothered by the busy street below. As noted by others, there is no welcoming lobby to greet you--just a tiny area with some sofas (that seem a little grubby) and a very small bar with a few tables.

As noted, the location is good, but I've stayed at the infinitely superior nearby Atlantico and would certainly return there in a heartbeat rather than stay at the Senator again.

Lovely tasteful room, very good value. If you wish to avoid the breakfast charge of 12 euros, simply take a Spanish breakfast in the Te and Cafe place just by the elevators. Some have crticised the lack of lobby, like we live in the lobby?I would rather have that than pretentious marble lobby, and rubbish room

Room Tip: Choose one away from the Gran via.

Very good hotel, GREAT location+++, 20 meters from metro station, very helpful staff great value for money.
Everything was perfect apart from 1 thing, their mattresses were terrible.
We were 3 couples traveling together and all the beds were not comfortable. We stayed for 5 nights and can not complain for anything else other than the beds.

Dear Guest,

I would like to thank you for your comments, as it is through them the best way we can improve the quality of our service, understanding the perception of our product and most important the quality and friendly service we provide.

We are very proud of the location of the hotel. As you said we are in the very centre of Madrid within a walking distance to most of the touristic points of the city. We are more than happy to see that you liked the service provided by our staff.
We once again thank you and are looking forward welcoming you to any of our establishments.

This was our first trip to Madrid. We arrived in the evening and were pleasantly surprized by how easy the trip was from the airprot to the hotel via the metro system. The restaurant of the hotel was closed at all times except for those who had reserved breakfast. I was happy I had not paid the €12.00 for this as there is a great cafe in the hotel offering toastadas & cafe and a range of other delights for €2.00 - €5.00. Our room was on the top floor and no road noise but noise from the elevator shaft a lot. Room clean but dated furnishings. Free water in the "mini bar" in room and tea & coffee srvice a good touch though, and replenished daily.

Spa was alright for city centre but no fruit in the fruit pool, "relax" room was cold and one of the facilities did not work. Though the staff and the treatments were wonderful, there is definately room for improvement. Overall good experience though I woouldnt return here.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the lifts!

The location is ok. But the people there are not kind. And I see that a hotel with **** stars need to have A LOBBY but they didn't. and the nice swimmingpool on site with alot of pictures is 13,50 euro per hour they didn't told that on the site. for me it was a ** hotel. On the television there was only spanish tv. They were angry at my children because they were playing. My children could not do anything they thought there was a nice swimming pool but this is the first time I see in a hotel that you have to pay for a swimming pool. If I would go to Egypt that is 100x more fun they are there more nicer ALOT OF swimming pools and all inclusive. I would pay the same for a ***** star hotel.
