“Great location, average hotel”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

We spent 5 nights at the Quatro in early October. The hotel could not be in a better location. All of the major attractions in Madrid were an easy walk away. The hotel is situated between several different neighborhoods, so by walking in different directions we found a nice variety of restaurants and different "vibes". The Puerta del Sol is a little overwhelming and seems to be always incredibly busy and crowded, but just beyond that is the Plaza Mayor, which is charming, if touristy. Heading in the other direction towards the museums you pass through the artist's quarter and Santa Ana square, which has a lot of good restaurants and tapas bars.
Our room was quite small, but comfortable. We were on an upper level floor so the noise was not an issue. We had breakfast included in our price, and the breakfast spread was quite ample. They even had a coffee machine which brewed decaf if you wanted it, instead of just the usual packet of instant.

Room Tip: Go for the higher floors to get up above the street noise.

October 11 to 13, 2013. The hotel is located near the Puerto Del Sol which we compared to Times Square in New York in that it’s a large square where many people congregate and street vendors, street musicians and street actors are found. It’s a fun place to be. The hotel appeared relatively new with a large bedroom and bathroom. The room was clean and the room service prompt. The front desk receptionist, Sara, was extremely helpful, cheerful and understanding of us foreigners. The metro, trolley and Hop-on, Hop-off are within three blocks walking distance. Many restaurants and shops nearby. We definitely recommend this hotel.
Travel Tip: The taxi driver to the airport charged us 5 Euros more per person than the meter reading reflected. He pointed to the Rate of Tariff on the window showing the additional 5 Euros per person. Make sure you initially understand the charges to avoid surprises.

The is hotel is close by to anything central in Madrid. You can walk 10 mins in most directions to get to either of the major parks in Madrid and also to the shopping district and markets.
The room was cleaned on a daily basis with fridge, safe, hair-dryer and towels.
Great wi fi too- with full signal and friendly customer service.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the main road as it maybe a little noisy.

The hotel is a modern hotel in a GREAT location, minutes away from puerta de sol station (& plaza) and sevilla station. It is also a 5-10 minute walk from the shuttle bus that takes you to the airport. It's a great location barely had to use the metro as everything is walkable. The location was a plus. The rooms were small but were decently clean. The only complaint was the attitude of the staff (just one). The others were extremely nice. She didn't seem happy to answer questions and kind of had an attitude. In addition, the hotel didn't have any body milk (lotion)...which I found weird. I can say I travel a lot to many places in the world and this is the first place where lotion isn't offered. Luckily I had a room that was in the back of the building so I didn't hear tooo much noise. Though even if the room was in the front of hotel..the area isn't too loud even though Puerta de Sol is super close. The walls are super thin and you can really hear what the other room is doing...which is kind of awkward. Wear earplugs.

This hotel is close to everything - shopping, sights, and dining. It's a very short walk to Puerta del Sol. We got the room two stories above the entrance so we had quite a view and had three big windows, two of them opening up to balconies. The room was big for a European hotel.

The hotel has WiFi but it keeps petering out often. Can't complain too much as it's free! The bathroom is a good size - ours had a toilet along with a bidet. There were three of us and they provided three body wash travel bottles along with three shampoo/conditioners.

So while there are great things about this hotel, there are also not-so-great things. Namely, the heat didn't work. We had blankets so it didn't matter at night, but it was cold in the bathroom after a shower. Also, there is a small partition in the shower instead of a shower curtain, which meant that water splashed on the bathroom floor during a shower. The bathroom door also didn't lock. Or properly close. It felt like there wasn't enough privacy in that aspect.

If I were to come back to Madrid, I would still stay here, though. The staff is very friendly and it was overall a great experience.

The location is the best. It is close to all of the sites, restaurants and shopping. Around the corner is Seville Station subway. There is an hop on-off tour bus stop a block away. Coffee/breakfast places nearby. The room is typical European small size room with only a couple of feet to walk around the bed to the bathroom. We had a double bed, stocked refer, flat screen tv, desk and chair and closet space with a safe. WIFI was good with a strong connection. Lots of places to eat tapas or paella within a few blocks too. The hotel desk staff gave us lots of good options. Our room was on a side street and there was not much noise other than from younger bar folks hanging after hours. I was too tired to notice but others in our party said they heard it. On checkout day, I was surprised that the bar crowd was just going home when we were leaving for a 4 AM flight. All in all the $127/night was a good value.

Room Tip: I'm pretty sure that most of the rooms face the side street but the building is triangular so so...

The location is fantastic. A couple of minutes walk from the subway station (although we didn't even use the subway as the main sights were all within walking distance) and 5 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol, the main plaza in Madrid. There is an El Corte Inglis (the main department store in Spain) just off the plaza including a large supermarket. Smaller supermarkets just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. 10 minutes walk to the Royal Palace and Prado Museum. The bathroom door is frosted glass and there is a gap between the door and the frame. The hotel said these were in the process of being replaced as there'd been a number of complaints. The first room we were given was very small with the bed right next to the bathroom door. When we asked if another room was available the hotel was kind enough to give us a much larger room where the bathroom door was less of an issue. The rooms are modern.
