“New Year's in Madrid”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2014

Spent NYE in Madrid and stayed at this hotel. The location could not have been any better or more central to enjoy all of the festivities. It is a small boutique hotel that was clean, contemporary and the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. I would absolutely stay there again.

Stayed one night hotel short walk from metro in a great location for shops and plaza major. Plenty of bars and coffee shops so didn't have breakfast. Free wifi which should be standard now in all hotels. Would recommend it again for location alone.

We stayed in this hotel a total of seven nights while we visited Spain. It is a gem. It is quiet, clean, and in a good location for walking or a quick taxi ride to museums and other sites. The staff makes this place though. They could not have been more friendly or helpful. They offered suggestions on restaurants and how to work the RENFE. The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast, but we never used it. Instead we had light breakfasts at nearby places. There is a Starbucks close by to get your coffee in the morning if you are in to that. The hotel has linked with a restaurant that has specials just for hotel guests. It was very reasonable and the food was very good. We also found many great restaurants close by - Suzanne de Finca across from the hotel and a wonderful tapas bar called Bar Cruz on Plaza Cascorro 19 - has been a family operated place for years and they had the best long neck clams we have ever had! The owner treated us so well - love finding those places! We went there twice!

Room Tip: Consider a one bedroom suite if you will be there for more than two nights. Well worth it and very s...

If all you care about is location, I would suggest this hotel. It couldn't be a better location- walking distance from the main square "Puerta del sol", La Mayor, and also to the palace.
The staff were all excellent and very friendly. They also mostly spoke very good english.
Breakfast was included and was fairly extensive.

The only issue really was the room. It was very small with barely space to walk between the bed and the wall. The walls were very thin so you could hear everything. Also the bathroom had that almost see through opaque glass so people can see your outline in the bathroom from the street (which also lets in the sunlight in the morning). I've seen this a lot around Spain though, so perhaps it's just the architecture here.
Having said all that, the rooms seemed relatively new and still had everything you need (tv, double bed, desk, lamp, safe, bathroom, toileteries, wifi). So if it's just you in the room and you happen to be a heavy sleeper, the hotel will probably be just fine!

Again though, excellent staff, location and pretty good price. Fine for a short stay!

Room Tip: I think there are fewer rooms on the top floor which probably means they are larger (and maybe quiet...

Stayed four nights in Hotel Quatro. A nice and basic hotel. The room was quite small, but fortunately bathroom was quite spacious. Nothing lacking: safe, minibar, free WiFi, hairdryer. A bit larger bath towel would be a bonus. Good service.
Only one problem: The walls and the doors are like paper. You can hear everything to/from rooms/corridors. And I do mean everything.
On top of that, unfortunately we happened have neighbours who fought and shouted through one night.

The breakfast is nice. Very good value.

The hotel is nicely located near almost everything. Within a walking distance from Gran Via, Plaza Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, etc.

Just returned from a long weekend stay in the centre of madrid, A wonderful experince lots of shops, restaurants, and things to do a visit to El Esterail Monastry was breathtaking and a must see.The city was buzzing leading up to Christmas. The Metro was quite easy to use and everywhere was very clean and the people so friendly. The Christmas decorations in Sol which is the very centre of Madrid are amazing. Staying in the Quatro Puerta Del Sol hotel just a short walk from the centre, We were greeted with a smile at checkin and the rooms were lovely with everything you could wish for on a short stay and not overly expensive taking into account where it is situated. Breakfast was extra but for 9 euros very good value. We will deffinatly return again in new year.

Room Tip: Better to ask for a higher room as it is quieter

Stayed for five nights 6-10 October. All the staff were very helpful and spoke English. My room, 410, located furthest into the side-street, was quiet. Limited wardrobe and drawer space. Air-con, safe; bathroom included bidet. The bed was quite comfortable and I slept very well. A pity that bathrobe and slippers were available in "superior" rooms only.

Breakfast was excellent, with hot (not sampled) and cold choices available; and the coffee was very good. All-in-all an excellent, pleasant stay and will definitely recommend. Very convenient location for most visitor attractions.

Room Tip: A room with the highest number (up to x10), x=floor number + 10 (410 for example)
