“Very good hotel in the heart of Peurto Del Sol”
Reviewed 11 June 2012

We stayed at hotel II Castillas in January 2012. The location is perfect in the heart of Peurto Del Sol and within walking distance to El Prado. It's clean and the breakfast is basic but good. I would certainly recommend it.

Room Tip: Room at a higher floor is recommended to avoid next door nightclub noise.

Simply a hotel that works as a hotel should. Staff courteous and helpful, rooms clean and spacious, almost excessively abundant breakfast. And right in the centre. What more could you want?

This place was so centrally located, we were smack in the middle of all the action. If you like being in the thick of the city you're visiting, without paying big bucks to be there, then you absolutely must check into Castillas. The service was fantastic, everyone either spoke English or tried extremely hard to help out whatever way they could. We were in a bit of a frenzy and turned up on a Thursday with our luggage and nothing booked. No rooms were available for us that night, but they kindly offered a discount rate for Friday - even though they really didn't have to. It might not be the fanciest of facilities, but it's clean, well kept and is charming enough without all the unnecessary 5 star frills.

This place is like a clean SUPER8 or Motel6.
Very very basic but clean and sufficient hotel in the heart of Madrid. If you want to stay in the Puerto Del Sol area on a budget, this is likely the best choice. Of course Madrid has far better hotels, but it will cost you more. The staff are helpful, but the hotel really has nothing more than clean rooms, with the most basic furniture and amenities. I wasn't too pleased with the state of linens, towels, and worn blankets. Basically it’s a place to lay down your head at night, I would not want to hang out in these rooms too long – they are too stale and uninteresting, and ours had barely any light. Our bath/shower was fine, with great water pressure, except for the half-way glass barrier that is typical of some European tubs, and holds no water in while you shower. However, our other parties in our group had a shower stand in which no person even slightly overweight would easily fit – much in the manner of a tight cruise ship shower stall. The wood panels at the floor of this stall expanded and shrunk with water and temperature changes, causing strange noises. I hate to think what could be growing under that wood. Breakfast was good, many choices, with the exception of coffee, which was dismal as per usual for Spanish 2 to 3 star hotels --utilizing a machine to dispense something approaching very weak brown water. Our room looked into a courtyard which was actually a series of private apartments, with clothes lines running across the courtyard. The residents would speak from window to window and you would hear the conversations at random times. Depending on your perspective you could find being party to these conversations charming, or annoying. The place doesn’t have much soul, but is good value for the price and certainly a great central location.

me and my wife stayed 3 nights .why ı said old face lobyy is decoreted classic .looks nice but rooms are look old .because rooms are a bit dark and bed covers are dark colour .makes it overall old face.ı recommend them to make the rooms light colours by paintings and bed covers ect.location of the hotel is really very good we had read that as being on the narrow street hotel is close to center and quiet at night. but maybe has changed since .because drunk people are loudly talking or screaming all nights.hotel has a good breakfast.helpful and friendly receptıon.rooms and bathroom big enough.we expected a free laptop or desktop does not matter old or used one but ı believe there should be free wi-fi and computer for customers.

Although our taxi driver had difficulty finding this hotel, it is actually conveniently located. Especially good was its proximity to a branch of El Corte Ingles, a department store offering many reasonably priced souvenirs with a full supermarket in the basement. The room was comfortable, but the shower is tiny. Front desk service was helpful and accommodating. The full breakfast offers something for everyone, and is staffed by a very pleasant hostess.

Room Tip: Choose a street-facing room instead of one at back.

An attractive hotel with excellent location - near to Puerta del Sol and other tourist sites, easy access to 2 metro lines. The hotel is just in a busy shopping district and in the same time on a small quiet street.
The rooms are clean and convenient, though not too big; well maintained hotel as a whole. The staff is friendly and helpfull in tourist advices and excursion arrangement,
Good breakfast, nice small restaurant in the hotel and several restaurants in the vicinity.
The hotel is recommendable both for business and tourist trips.
