“Location, Sophistication, Location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

We stayed for a week in July. This hotel is perfectly located near many of the major museums and galleries that we wanted to visit. Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia are all within a few minutes walk. We didn't use the metro or take a taxi until our 6th day.

In keeping with the property, the staff are very pleasant, helpful and very well presented. David on the front desk, who gave us two outstanding restaurant referrals, deserves commendation.

We stayed in a standard single level room. They are small, but well appointed with high end finishes and beautiful marble bathrooms, suitable for a gay couple travelling together. Despite being a little cramped we still managed to be comfortable with two large and two small suitcases. The hotel room was equipped with a night light in the bathroom but was lacking a clock, this led to one missed breakfast, as the black-out blinds excelled at their role.

The roof terrace had a great view of the surrounding buildings. The pool was a little cold to swim and the gym facilities basic. However, each was clean and of a high standard, a perfect place to enjoy your complimentary glass of French champagne.

The breakfast buffet had a great selection of breads, cold cuts and cooked to order eggs. The coffee was decent also. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurants for any other meals, as there is a wonderful selection in the neighbourhood.

Definitely worth the spend for the position and friendliness of the staff.

Room Tip: 3rd floor at end of corridor looking out to small calle was quiet

Considering I paid extra for a bigger room, I was disappointed with how small the main part of the room was. Only just enough room to walk around the bed. There was an 'upstairs' area with a sofa and desk, but this seemed pointless. Nice decor throughout and good service. Cocktails on the roof were great.

Room Tip: Don't ask for a duplex room.

Located just a few minutes away from Puerta del Sol is the Hotel Urban; its central location makes it a natural jump off point due to its proximity to other tourist sites, including the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Royal Palace and Reina Sofia...

A first class hotel very well placed, our first visit to Madrid and a great base for a few days stay, the staff are all very informed and helpful, full of advice and practical tips
Room was very comfortable with excellent bathroom
Rooftop pool and terrace nice touch, great views of the city whilst enjoying the very generous complimentary glass of Grand Cru champagne (not local Cava)
Fab Argentinian steak restaurant as recommended by reception a few hundred yards from the hotel if you don't fancy a trip across town
Pity the excellent looking hotel restaurant was shut across Sunday and Monday nights but perhaps next time
Interesting shopping, no shortage of shoe shops and the must visit Pikolinos store just up the road (easily the best value shoes in the world)
Definitely one to revisit, great also if you are driving as we were as there's secure valet parking at a modest additional cost
Thanks to everyone at Urban for a memorable stay
Also perhaps the best hotel breakfast for many a long stay, well worth booking it

Room Tip: Nothing specific, get a suite if you can

The hotel is ideally located in the center of Madrid.
Everyone from the receptionist to the doormen were absolutely charming.
However, on our 1st night, we were given a 1st floor suite with view onto the interior patio... A real cave! And with the music of the wedding happening 2 floors below until 3 am...
The day after the receptionists were very helpful and gave us another suite on the 4th floor... Simply perfect this time! We loved that 2nd room and would love to book it again.
Breakfast, served in the restaurant on the ground floor, is very nice and the service is excellent.
The pool, on the 6th floor, is very small and quite crowded for its small size, but is nice and quite refreshing for a quick dip after a long day in the city.
We also could benefit from a late check-out which was also a very nice perk.
We will definitely come back, making sure that we have a room not overlooking the interior patio.

Urban Hotel is a real slice of luxury in Madrid. Perfectly placed for all the main attractions, especially museums and retiro park. Hotel itself is very modern, and rooms are very comfortable, fantastic power showers etc , beds etc. very best bit about this hotel though are the staff. Incredibly helpful, and always add value to your questions and queries to make sure you have a great stay in Madrid. This hotel is excellent value, and I would expect to pay a lot more than I did for this hotel. A real find.

This hotel was just about perfect. We had stayed 3 nights in the sister hotel (the Villa Real) just down the road, we went out of town and came back to Madrid for one night and couldn't get the Villa Real so booked this hotel. While we loved the sister hotel this place was a notch above. Simply wonderful stay!

From check in, which was fast, with the friendliest reception desk staff I have ever encountered, the experience was excellent. We were shown to our room and everything was explained to us. We were given vouchers for complementary champagne in the rooftop bar. It was beautiful on the rooftop. Although the swimming pool was a little small, but that is expected in a city centre hotel.

The rooms were very modern and well apportioned. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep.

the bathroom is stunning. The granite sinks are very cool as is the shower and bath.

The location is perfect, within walking distance of everything. We really enjoyed our stay and if we go back to Madrid will book this hotel.
