Reviewed 14 April 2013 via mobile

On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who spoke good English. We checked in straight away with no problems. She gave us a local map and showed us directions to the local sites.
Basic Info - Our room was very clean, modern, light and spacious. The bed was very comfortable, the towels (2 per person) were soft, shower gel, soap & shampoo were provided. Also the room had a small safe, a small fridge and a small area to hang clothes up if need be.
The layout was unusual from most hotel rooms as this had a separate sleeping area at one end of the room then it had sliding doors to a sofa, a small table with a kettle, 2 cups and 2 tea bags, but no coffee, opposite the sofa was the shower then round the corner was the toilet and a wash basin. It might sound odd but the layout worked really well.
We had a front room with a small balcony overlooking the street below. It probably wasn't the quietest of rooms we've had but nothing to moan about, and once the patio doors were closed the noise wasn't a concern at all.
Breakfast was 8.00 - 12.00 but you could go earlier if you had a early flight or train to catch, so very helpful. Breakfast itself was basic but ok with your usual juices, cereals, meats & bread. Also you could get free tea / coffee throughout the day downstairs in the breakfast area.
Location was good only about a 15 minute walk to most tourist areas, Cathedral, Shops, Galleries, Squares etc.
Their are quiet a few restaurants near by, reasonably priced, especially Curry ones if that's what you like, but other choices as well. Their is also a supermarket just round the corner.
From the Airport to hotel by train is about 30 minutes and costs €2.50 per person, then its about a 10 minute walk to the hotel from the main train station, from the Airport to hotel by the Metro is €5 per person though requires several changes, but not difficult to do, then its a 5 minute walk from the nearest Metro station, the bus is also €5 per person but a lot slower. Lastly the Internet was good, fast, reliable and free.
Overall I would highly recommend the Artrip Hotel, for good value for money, good location and very helpful pleasant staff.

Dear Guest,
Thank you to choose Artrip Hotel for your stay in Madrid, and thank you so much to send this beautiful comments. We ´ve worked very hard last year to open it trying to do it as best as we can everyday.
I am very happy to hear that you liked the rooms, clean and modern, with a special design (that not to everybody like) and our quite good location.

But most of all I am especially pleased that you enjoyed the service provided by our staff ,It is glad to read they provided to you an efficiente service to help you. I always feel this is the most important and lasting memory of a hotel.

Your compliments of our good free wiffi, small fridge in to the room are very much appreciated too.

Thanks also for your last recommendation of the Artrip Hotel to any traveller. It will be a pleasure to host you again in future.

With best regards,

Miguel Ángel Porras

Small hotel but it has everything for us. As a family we got two rooms. Pretty and clean rooms and price okay. Free continental breakfast and free use of their laptop. Walking distance to many tourist spots. So far safe to walk around the vicinity.
Enjoyed our stay....no complaints. Will recommend to my friends.

We stayed at the Artrip over the Easter break. The yellow express bus from Madrid airport was very easily found and was only 5 euros and when we arrived at Atocha station it was a ten minute walk to the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room overlooked the front of the hotel and had a little balcony. It was a nice bright room, everything white and an excellent shower. We ate in the Tagliatelle restaurant that the hotel recommended. It was within walking distance and the food was excellent with huge portions. The dish of pasta really was enough for two people rather than one. The hotel is very near a metro station and the metro was very easy to use, although it is also easy to walk to the main sights. We loved the Prado. It is free every evening 6-8pm and well worth visiting. The Reina Sofia is a five minute walk from the hotel but we didn't enjoy it so much. Breakfast was good with cereal, bread, cold meats and cheese and coffee was very nice. Although the hotel is on a busy street the shutters made the room completely dark at night and it was very quiet. There is a supermarket nearby where you can buy anything you need and a fridge in the room.

We stayed for several days at the Art Trip Hotel in Madrid this past March 2013. We enjoyed the stay very much and would definitely book here if we happen to be in Madrid again.

What we like about the place:
1. Great staff - Sara, Cari who look after the front desk are very helpful and always welcome you with a smile. Julietta who runs the kitchen is also very helpful and won't hesitate to recommend places to visit around Madrid. Their english is also very good so you won't have any problems communicating.

Miguel is the owner and you can see him working night shifts when his staff is off. Definitely a hands on manager, this is good as he'll take care of things very quickly. Make sure to check with him also on where to eat and places to visit. Very cheerful guy.

2. Breakfast - love the coffee - free anytime of the day. Great selection of meats and cheese.

3. We loved the rooms we were given, very clean and has all the amenities you'll need. You can ask for bigger rooms but in general the room sizes are perfect since you only stay in the room to rest or sleep and you'll spend the rest of the day roaming Madrid. The price is reasonable.

4. Internet connection - the whole hotel has a strong signal - never lost a connection. This was important for us.

5. Location - the place is walking distance from the Atocha Train Station, around 15mins. Even with all our luggages it wasn't a bad walk. Of course your mileage may vary. We never had to take a cab to get to the main places to visit - The Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Museum (very close) and the Gran Via, even the Royal Palace. Walking 15-20 minutes in Madrid is no problem since you get to appreciate the city better and see the alleys, pubs, stores and get a feel for life in Madrid. The neighborhood is also safe.

The comment I make is about Madrid as a whole - I think the city has been overtaken by vandalism and the walls around the hotel and it's community was not spared. Also be careful when walking the sidewalks as most people don't clean up after their pets.

I've stayed in quite few hotels in the US and Asia and I have to say the ArtTrip is a solid five star for it's type of hotel. Very happy with the service and the whole experience. Highly Recommended.

Great value. Close to restaurants and the museums and best sights of Madrid. Metro SOL. You can reach it from the Madrid Airport easily. Taxi $40 euro. Metro $4 euro. Very friendly staff. Allowed us to keep our baggage while we walked the Camino.
