The Artrip is a modern hotel. All the facilities are near new. The rooms are very well equipped. Ours even had a small fridge which is not that common in Europe. The room has 2 air conditioners when it could get by with one. The breakfast is quite sufficient without being over the top but at 5 Euros per person it is great value. There is also free Wifi available throughout the hotel.
The owner, Miguel, is very helpful and seems to be very genuine in his attempts to make your stay enjoyable.
The hotel is not in the middle of the city but it is just a 10 minute walk away. Don't let this deter you.
Very highly Recommended.

ONly spent here a night, but the experience was really good. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean and the location was perfect. We would recommend it to other tourists who want to stay in a place minutes away from art galleries and museums. There are also many restaurants around and th e Atocha train station is at a walking distance.

Room Tip: It was very convenient for us coming from the airport on the bus that ends in Atocha and walking to...

We welcome your good comments to the Artrip Hotel.
Certainly we are located in the heart of Madrid, near Atocha main Railway Station and surrounded by the most visited Museums of the city.

Thanks also for your review about the clean of the hotel and our friendly staff.

We stayed at the Hotel after the great reviews on Trip Advisor and the Hotel was true to the review. The rooms are very clean and spacious with a 5 star shower. The room and hotel design was very modern.

The staff were so friendly and always happy to help. We met the hotel Owner who was exactly the same very helpful. I have read a few of the reviews on here that have commented that the hotel is in a bad area. I can understand that this may seem the case, but when you get to explore Madrid you will note that most of the areas are like this. even main tourist areas like Grand Via have a lot of shops n side streets which graffiti walls. The only one area that looked more up market was Serrano and you would be paying through the roof to stay there. The hotel is in a good location it is less than a minute walk to central metro line or a 20 minute walk to main tourist areas such as gran via.

The hotel offers a continental breakfast at just 4 Euros. I found this good value and included Twinnings Tea. Which many 5 star hotels don’t even offer.

The room was fully a/c and also had a fan. it can get a little noisey as you can sometimes hear noise from the street.

All in all a lovely hotel and much better than what you would expect for 3 star!

Spent 3 nights here in early July 2013 with my 17 yo niece and nephew. This was their favorite of all of our hotels in our 3 week stay in Europe. The room was unique and set up well for our needs. Very Spartan but in a chic and utilitarian sort of way . You can tell the owner thought out all of the details right down to the very cool staircase . The beds and the shower were awesome. Noise was not an issue and we were on the street side, with a nice little balcony I might add. The breakfast and 24/7 coffee was quite nice. Most importantly, the staff was fabulous. Friendly and helpful beyond the norm. Will definitely recommend to friends without hesitation0012320265445, and return here when back in Madrid. The location to the metro was great as well as to train station and museums. The only thing I'd like to see improved upon is a strong wifi signal in the rooms.

Dear Guest,
Thanks a lot for this awesome review. We try to do everyday our best for your service.
And thanks a lot again for your comments about the hotel services, the staff, the location, the design, etc..etc..

You are right, we had a weak signal of wifi in some rooms, but now we have a better signal because we´ve put one week ago another 2 powerful modems in 2º and 4º floor.

We do hope to see you again some day, this is your home in Madrid.

Best regards,

I stayed at the Artrip hotel in July 2013. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with a spotless room and very comfy beds. The hotel is very well located and minutes away from the three main galleries in Madrid. It also a few blocks away from an underground station and about 10 minutes from the main railway station. Paintings in the hotel give it a nice charming tone. Breakfast was good too and the opportunity of using a coffee machine during the day was great. Thank you to Miguel and the staff of the hotel.

Great location. We walked from Atocha station and it only took 10 mins. The hotel is close to so many different shops and restaurants and bars. And is less than 10 minutes to the main sites.

For the price - this hotel is a bargain! Big sized rooms. Large bedroom. Large bathroom (as the other reviews state - great shower pressure). Separate little living area.

Breakfast is super cheap at 4€ per person and variety too. Pastries, fruit, toast, meats, cheese, cereals - abundant supply.

24 hour coffee machine - and decent coffee. And chilled water on arrival.

The staff are super friendly. The girl at reception on our first day was excellent. Incredibly helpful, patient - pointed us to places to go and places not to go. We also met Miguel - the owner. They are so lovely and also great at English for those who can't speak Spanish. Our stay although short was perfect. The room and faciliities were immaculate. We will be back for sure.

Artrip is a little gem of a hotel in what can be described as an up and coming area. The very short walk to the nearby metro station gives you a sometimes dim view of the area, which is largely a neighbourhood area with a good varity of races living there, however my wife and I stayed 3 nights, regularly walked and used the metro and never felt intimidated ( except perhaps by the sun when the temperature reached the high 30's!).

A short walk to the nearest placa (but quite a hill) which is great at night with plenty of restaurants and bars. Just above the metro station near the hotel there is an area of plentiful Indian restaurants.

Not far from Atocha station. We walked, but there were plenty of cabs available. We took the metro to the airport on departure and despite 2 changes it took only 45 mins. Very efficient metro service. It's worth buying the 10 trip tickets for just over 12 euros.

The hotel is small and the staff clearly caring about their tasks and the guests. All were exceptionally helpful. free wifi....which was reliable. Free coffee on demand from the machine downstairs just behind the reception. Nice art and a lovely wooden staircase.

We had an attic room. A decent room, with a very nice shower and a mini fridge. That had free water on the first day. Pity it wasn't restocked but we got our own next door at the mini market. One small criticism: we were initially given only one room key. The air con doesn't work unless the key card is inserted in the room. I had to ask for a second key to leave in there, as without leaving the air con on when out for a few hours at night, we woul have come back to a really warm room. We were given a second key without question however.

All in all a really nice hotel.
