What a wonderful city - I never tire of exploring it....the Reina Sofia, the Prado, etc...all still magnificent and Worth doing - luckily did not have to queue...the sun was with us, albeit with a strong cold Wind coming down from the Sierras.

Thank sallyglen

The Plaza de Cibeles is a square with a neo-classical complex of marble sculptures with fountains that has become an iconic symbol for the city of Madrid. free entrance .The architecture is very interesting.

My small group of students and I went to the top of this former palace, former post office for a great rooftop view of the city. It is not well posted that tickets (2 euros and worth it) to board the elevator to reach the top floor are sold on the lower level (but now you know). We were there on a Sunday and there is a mid-day break for the elevator going to the top, so we had no problem squandering some time in a fun gift shop on the lower level and resting on some comfy couches where there is free wifi.

The architecture is very interesting. There are exhibits inside and you can almost feel the excitement and commotion that must have existed when it had its other uses. For the tower observation deck, buy your tickets before entering and take the first set of elevators to your right.
