The Ibis budget Madrid Centro Las Ventas should not be confused with the Ibis Madrid Centro Las Ventas which is about half a mile away as happened to our taxi driver. The word "budget" should be taken very seriously by potential guests and taxi drivers. This is an ideal hotel for young people and others who love to travel but have limited means. It is Spartan in its furnishings, such as no chair in the room, but it is very clean; the bed is comfortable, the shower and toilet are fine, and the young staff members are as friendly and helpful as any reasonable person could want. The breakfast is extra and there are a couple of levels depending on your hunger and budget. As the term budget implies the selection is modest but more than adequate. Also there is a Metro station about a block and a half away that will connect you with the entire city and even the Madrid Airport if you don't mind carrying your luggage on the Metro cars, which we saw many people doing. That would save the budget minded traveler considerably compared with the 30 Euro standard taxi fare from the airport to downtown. There is free Wi-Fi in the room, which in more expensive hotels costs extra for reasons this traveler has never understood. We encountered plenty of young people but also business travelers and older couples too. I would not recommend this hotel for honeymooners as they might want to spend more time in their room. But Madrid is such a lively city that should not be a problem for others. There is a TV in the room. For what it is, this is a fine place to stay for those on a budget who want clean, safe and friendly accommodations.
