We have chosen this apartment because of it's proximity to art museums and Atocha railway stain. It was much better than we expected. Very clean, cosy, and functional!
The owners are very responsive and helpful. Everything you need at home is provided. There were 3 of us and all beds ( sofa bed and double bed) were comfortable. We were surprised that it was very quite even though it was right on the corner of Calle de las Huertas, the street lined with numerous bars and restaurants. It really felt like home and we would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to close friends.
Cesar's apartment was perfect for our family of four. The couch bed was firm but our daughters slept there comfortably. The neighborhood was near Retiro Park and had lots of small bars and restaurants and a couple of handy grocery stores. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were a few thoughtful items in the fridge for us upon our arrival. The wifi worked well and the TV was impressive.
We had a wonderful 6 days in Madrid . The apartment offers everything 2 people need. We were able to find the apartment easily and it offered access to nearby metro stations
We often investigated Madrid on foot which was possible because of the location
The purpose of our visit was the Madrid Open tennis. An easy 20-25 minutes on the metro and we were able to enjoy the tennis
A small super market in the same building (ground floor) was very convenient
Our hosts were very helpful and friendly !
We arrived in Madrid by plane at 8.30 am and Ceasar allowed us to store our luggage in his appartment until the appartment was ready. It is located in the writers district which was convienent to everything. He supplied us with maps and advise as to amenities in the area and left enough supplies to get us started. Would have liked to have an English news channel on the TV although we didn't spend much time in the unit.
Fantastic location in Barrio de las Letras, easy walking distance to Prado museum and all the main attractions. Lots of great bars and restaurants nearby. The apartment is perfect for two people and felt very safe. Cesar the owner is very helpful, coffee, juice, milk and bread provided which was a nice touch. Would stay here again.
This apartment is perfect for 2 people who want to visit essential Madrid on foot. It is located in an old, but safe neighborhood (the Barrio de las lettras, so called for its glorious literary past) at the intersection of two very narrow streets- Calle de las Huertas and Calle Jesus, From there it is a 10 minute-walk to the visitors entrance of the Prado museum, even less to the Thyssen and not much more to Reina Sofia. The heart of the old city (Plaza major, etc) is also within walking distance. As an added convenience, if you are not burdened by luggage, just walk 20 minutes to Atocha train station for a one-day excursion by fast train to must-see nearby places such as Toledo. But beware, when you see the station from a distance, you are not there yet! Besides, it is huge inside, give yourself plenty of time.
The apartment itself is modern, airy, spotless and offers all the amenities you might want, including a well appointed kitchen and excellent bathroom. The owner, who lives in the same building and is always ready to help, is a friendly gentleman who speaks fluent English and French. For simple errands, there is a "supermarket" downstairs in the same building (I would rather call it a glorified superette).
I you care for a nice bistrot style meal in a very picturesque, very Spanish place, I suggest going downstairs next door on Calle Jesus at Maceira (the one on Huertas with the same name looks like less fun). It is good, fun and cheap. And you eat with the locals.
We were very happy with our stay and I have strictly nothing negative to say. If we come back to Madrid we will again stay in this apartment. I warmly recommend it, without any reservations. Thank you, Cesar!
We've rental several apartments throughout Europe and this is the by far the best value for our money we've ever experienced.
OWNER: Cesar is a delight to work with and responded kindly and quickly to our questions. Knowing he lives down the hall provided an added sense of security. Folks living in adjacent units were gracious of our presence. During business hours there is a friendly and helpful doorman, too.
LOCATIION: Couldn't be better. We loved being in the middle of this charming Barrio de las Letras (writer's neighborhood) with its many shops, bars, restaurants and especially its pedestrian streets. It was easy to walk to both the art museums to the east and the major plazas to the west. (And even the Royal Palace if you're a decent walker.) We felt very safe here with both an outer gate and inner glass door, both kept locked, to get into the building.
SLEEPING: There is a small amount of street noise from the large living room windows but it's very quiet where it matters--in the bedroom with its courtyard window. The bed isn't the biggest, but it's comfortable and has crisp, new linens. The room and closet aren't large, but adequate.
KITCHEN: Well-equipped and stocked with get-started breakfast foods (OJ, milk, several bread products, bottled water, marmalade, butter.) Washing machine, but no dryer, in kitchen (though clothing dries pretty fast in this dry climate.)
BATHROOM: About what you'd expect. Nice towels, good water pressure.
LIVING ROOM: Spacious, light, good wi-fi.
An apartment like this that is modern, clean, well-kept and in an ideal location for an affordable price? Awesome.
