The Melia group have been very successful in converting some fine 19th century central Madrid buildings into smallish mid priced hotels to appeal to businessmen and the more discerning tourists alike. This one in particular is very well placed for a Metro station serving three different lines, so getting anywhere could not be easier. The decor is modern and fairly minimalist, and the rooms are a good size, well equipped and planned. Even an iron and ironing board! There is a very pleasant lounge/ bar area on the ground floor. Traffic noise seems not to be a problem. Breakfasts are all one could wish for, served in the former courtyard which is now covered. There is a roof terrace with bar, although this may only operate in high summer. Highly recommended

After I checked in to my neat clean room with an iron and ironing board I went down to the desk to get help with the free wifi. The woman at reception was very friendly and helpful, and showed me what to enter in the settings of my iPhone. For the rest of my 4 night stay, I never had a problem with the wifi (unlike the previous hotel I had just been in). My wake up calls each morning were on time. The bed was comfortable. The only problem was that the down comforter was too warm, and I would suggest having lighter blankets available. For those who didn't like the hotel coffee, there is a Starbucks diagonally across the street, and the reception desk kindly directed me there.

Room Tip: I had asked for, and received, a room away from the elevator and it was nice and quiet.

Dear Patricia,

Thank very much for your kind review!

We are really happy to read that you enjoyed you stay with us. We work hard every day to improve our service, and it is very nice to read that you think our "reception staff was very friendly and helpful"

Also that you liked his atributes as ironing board as well as free internet conexion.

Concerning the blankets, I am taking all your suggestion for further plans of improvements.

We hope to welcome you again at Innside Genova, and you can experience the changes we introduce.

Thanks again

My wife and I stayed at the Innside Madrid Génova for four days this past week. I travel about 50% of the time and spend a lot of time in hotels and have seen it all- from homestays in Cuban provincial towns to over the top ostentation in oil-rich Gulf states. But Innside Genova really stood out. The hotel itself is a jewel- brilliantly remodeled with a sleek and functional interior yet preserving the historical touches. The location is great as well- almost all of the places you would want to see are within walking distance and outside the door you have a metro station with three metro lines. I also found all of my interactions with the staff to be pleasant and professional. Noelia is a stand out - she was always charming and she provided me with a great restaurant recommendation as well. Lastly, I expected to be here some of the street noise since the hotel is on a pretty busy street, but the excellent soundproofing and solid inside shutters kept the noise and light out- perfect for sleeping in after a late night out in Madrid.

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing the street.

This hotel was great! A real hidden gem! The location was slightly out of the central tourist areas, which was perfect for us! It takes about 10 minutes to walk into the centre, and along the route are great shops and tapas restaurants to pop into. You feel alot less like a tourist.
The staff at the hotel had the best customer service in madrid. The two girls on reception spoke great engligh and were great and more than willing to help with our queries, offering great help with things to do, places to go and restuarants to eat in.
The room itself was lovely. Minimalistic but stylized - and a free mini bar restocked every day. For those who like to sleep in, the shutters make the room nearly a blackout - so much we didn't realise it was morning!
The food at breakfast was great! Although there is not a massive selection, the food is amazing, obviously from a local bakery, with freshly squeezed orange juice to top it off!
The terrace at the top of the hotel cannot be missed. There are lovely seats to relax in whilst its warm, and even better to take a cocktail from downstairs up there.
I would definitely stay in this hotel again if i return to Madrid - it cannot be faulted and gave us a great experience!

Room Tip: We originally had an 'inside' room booked, but upgraded to an outside room for 10 Eur per ni...

I stayed here a couple of times in March, 2014 and couldn't have enjoyed it more.

I stayed in Madrid on business and couldn't have stayed better, the rooms where terrific, the location fantastic - only a 10 minute walk away from Gran Via and 15 minute from Puerta del Sol - the hotel is brand new and the staff very caring.

The breakfast was very good and complete.

This stylish boutique hotel was located at Alonzo Martinez, which is ideally close to all the sights and exciting neighbourhoods; it was a short distance to the fashionable Salamanca with the beautiful old houses and the shopping street Calle de Serrano, within a few minutes we walked to the museum street Paseo de Prado, a few minutes more we ended up in the beautiful majestic park Parque del Retiro. If we walked a few minutes south we ended in the trendy district Cheuca with all the hip restaurants, various clubs and some peculiar shops. If we went westward we ended up in the little more alternative Malasanas and Conde Duque. Gran Via and Puerta de Sol just felt messy and dull, while Letras and Cortes which lay beyond these blocks attracted with its quaint streets and small tapas bars.

Our room was on the top floor, with easy access to two terraces, one with morning sun and the other with evening sun. Great staff, helpful and always smiling. Our room had a spacious feeling, nicely decorated with a large bathroom. Loved the rain shower! It was very quiet from the streets outside. We shared the hall with another room, when people where walking outside we could here them talking. On the negative side was also the room spray the cleaning staff were using, it was very overwhelming and heavy, we had to open the windows to be able to breath (same spray were used everywhere else at restaurants etc). We stayed here for 5 nights, and I would definitely return again if they could be more economic with the room spray.

Enjoyed our stay, staff very helpful and the bar attendant worked extremely well and always seemed to be on duty whatever time of day or evening. Rooms very clean,if a little on the small side, a bedside table and more storage space for suitcases etc would be welcome if staying for more than one night. Also more room in the bathrooms for guests own cosmetics etc.Roof terrace a bonus. Breakfast tables would be better square rather than round to enable guests to move around the room more easily.

Room Tip: Try for one with two windows as these are larger.
