“Incredible value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Modern, elegant hotel in the quiet Chamberi neighborhood. Easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Price was incredibly low for a city hotel which included breakfast. Wonderful firm mattress and king size bed. Breakfast service was a bit relaxed.

We stayed 3 nights in the amador de Los Rios at the start of May. It was in an excellent location close to 2 Metro stations that linkled to everywhere in the city. The room was clean and comfortable with the added benefit of a wide terrace that provided spectacular views across the city. The staff were really helpful and recommended a stunning local restaurant - TenConTen - which we would throughly recommend, although make sure you book. Really lovely stay.

Room Tip: Go for the superior double with the roof terrace

This 19 room hotel is charming and the staff are pleasant. However it is not convenient to metro stops so we found ourselves taking taxis everywhere. Recommend paying a little more and booking a room with a balcony if the weather is nice.

This hotel is absolutely perfect, from the welcoming and helpful staff, to the fantastic breakfast and the great and safe location, 1 block from the underground and buses. The room was great as was the cleanliness. Bed was comfortable and shower was big. This is tucked away one block of the beaten path so quiet with security being behind the Interior of Ministries, so the police presence is always there, thus, very safe. I absolutely recommend this hotel for a great stay in Madrid. In addition, there is a microwave to make tea and a fridge to keep your drinks/snacks from spoiling. An easy walk to the Art Museums, city hall, etc.

The location is excellent, one street at the back of Colon square, so close to the center of Madrid but in a quiet street. It feels a very secure place, since it is a the back of the Ministry of Interior, so there is plenty of police around.
I consider this place a Aparthotel since all the rooms have a small kitchennete. This is very practical if you want to prepare your own meals or stay indoor for some other reasons. The rooms decoration is modern but warm and welcoming. It is quite clean and the beds are comfortable. The windows have electric shutters, which adds more soundproof quality to the rooms. However, the noise from other rooms is stronger than in other hotels, the piping system makes you feel that the guest of the contiguous or above room is using your own bathroom.
The hotel staff is really kind and helpful, with very good disposition always ready to attend you.
The entrance, lobby, bar and seating place for breakfast or drinks is rather small, but enough if you are not expecting to hold formal meetings.
They are very permissive with smoking in a room next to the small swimming pool they have at the back of the building, but this is very practical when you have friends who smoke and you want to have a drink together. It didn't bother us like to some other guests who have made a negative review because of this reason. It is your choice to enter that area or not.
We were for two nights very comfortable in this hotel. Whenever we go back to Madrid we will choose it again.

Room Tip: Since it is located in a very quiet street you don't need to ask for a room at the back, which h...

After two days in the more touristy area of Madrid we thought we'd move to the Amador for a change of pace. It's a low key place and staying here gave us a more neighbourhood feel to Madrid. This place was a great find. Stylish interior and helpful front desk. Rooms have a small kitchenette and are well laid out. They actually feel spacious. We were here 4 nights and found it hassle free. It's in a safe and quiet area but still walking distance to Salamanca and Chueca with plenty of shops and places to eat. Good value for this top boutique find.

Location wise this hotel is spot on; just enough didtance from the hustle of Madrid but not so far that it's an issue. If you've been to Madrid before then you know what I mean when I say it's about an 8 minute walk to Retiro park and about the sane to the Grsn Via.

The street of of hotel is do peaceful. A few very quiet policemen guarding the nearby ministry but that's it.

The hotel is very small. Not posh or anything but a good 4* standard.

Rooms are clean and have the benefit of electric black-out blinds which were a treat for a holiday lay-in bed.

The pool is nice to look at - but never used it.

Reception staff are lovely.

The only downside is the breakfast - can't quite out my finger in it - but it was a tad disappointing - but not bad so don't run off because I said that.

I would go back - effectually when you compare the price if this hotel to others.
