My wife has been working in Madrid and chose this hotel for an extended stay. Having just spent three days there, I can say I really had no major issues. The location is ideal for anybody wanting to explore the old part of the city and is close to the Retiro Park - which is a lovely retreat (and also a good walking route from the hotel to the Prado museum).
This is a business hotel and the rooms are a decent size, clean and comfortable, and regularly serviced. The shower was great - hot and powerful.
The breakfast buffet is ample and you can get eggs,omelettes etc cooked to order.
However, they only have one coffee machine, which causes a problem when it malfunctions.
Only other negatives - it is easy to hear noise from other rooms, and the bar prices are exorbitant (which means it was mostly deserted). There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so this latter aspect is not so much of a problem.

Referring to the cafeteria prices are appointed from our headquarters and are in the same range in all four star hotels in Madrid, with beers and soft drinks from € 2.90 to € 3.00.

My mom and I had to book a last minute hotel in Madrid for Easter weekend and I am so happy we chose this hotel. It was a great value for the money- great location, fantastic staff, and a good breakfast buffet compared to other hotels I've stayed at in Spain. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Our favorite part was the 2 small balconies that allowed you to look out on the street. And the shower! Even though we looked onto the busy street, there was hardly any noise at night. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

I stayed in Catalonia Goya only for one night (one person) 15.04.2014 and I can't say a bad word about that place.
Cost - 65€
Firstly, the receptionists were probably the nicest people I've ever met in any hotel! Very helpful, smiling all the time and simply sooo NICE! Fantastic bunch of guys! You will feel a 100% welcomed all the time.
Room - nice surprise on entry - complimentary bottle of wine in ice. Great start :-)
Very clean and in a quite modern style. Huge and functional bathroom. TV, very well loaded mini fridge, Wi-Fi. All good in every department.
Location - beautiful and quite posh part of Madrid. You can go out and get some awesome tapas and wine in one of those off the main road, small charming restaurants. Close to a subway station (1min). Very close to The National Museum and close to everywhere by Metro :-)
I didn't use the hotel bar or food services so no comments about it.
Generally speaking I can highly recommend the place. Personally I'll be back next month.

It seemed like that the housekeeping haven't visited the room 407 for ages. We had a small and very filthy refrigerator in our room, its walls were covered in mold and mildew and that doesn't just grow overnight! We were afraid to eat anything from that fridge, some of the chocolate bars were due expiry dates for several months, and a Haribo packet was opened by previous guests and left there, and the room service didn't even bother to check on that. Housekeepers don't dust the room, wipe the tiles in the bathroom nor check the state of the curtain etc... Maintenance department doesn't do their job either, wallpapers in the room came unstuck in several places, and telly wasn't working properly, couldn't watch any channels.

A guest not satisfied is a failure for us and we always learn from it to get better and better.

We stayed here for 4 nights as we went to a Laura Pausini concert. The room was extremely quiet(yes we were in Madrid??), it was clean and well presented. All the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Virginia and Roberto....thank you both!!!
We had a great four days and the Catalonia Goya made it even better!!! My only negative comment is that I found the bar prices a little steep....but hey ho this is Madrid.
