Unfortunately with the good central location came the noise factor. During the day it was busy with day time activities and at night time it turned into a drunken, loud environment. But the most disturbing was that at 5 in the morning the pubs nearby were supplied (lots of bottles were brought in) and due to the cobblestone paving the noise was even worse.

Location is superb, walking distance to all the plazas and places of interest worth visiting in old Madrid (f.ex.plaza Major). Clean and nice, spacy rooms, friendly staff. But, leave the car at home (or with the rental company), one way streets make it almost impossible to find calle Victoria! Still, you can park safely in public parking at plaza Santa Ana. And avoid the hotel breakfast, not good. Many nice breakfast places along the street or around the corner. Cheap, we paid Euro 103/night for a 3 bed room.

So what's Great
1)Location
At 150 metres from the "Sol" Metro station you are in heart of the city. All of Madrid is within 7-8 stops.

All the famous Free & Paid walking tours of Madrid start at Sol at 11 am & Pub-Crawls at 9.30pm, The top 2-3 Flamenco shows are a 10 minute walk.

Opposite the hotel is the Musee De Jammon (Museum of Ham) a must visit for any foodie.
Irish Pubs, Night clubs and of-course the Spanish Tapas/Paella joints are all around Sol.

Oldest Choclatier- San Gines(1894 setup) and the oldest restaurant - Botin(since 1725) are 15 minute walk

Plaza de Mayor, Opera House, Royal Palace, Prado Museum, Real Basilicca etc -all around.

2) Good Clean Rooms - 2 large Queen sized beds, Electronic safe
Large Bathrooms,
Allowed Late checkout
Safe Luggage Storage. The staff locks your luggage, gives you tags and the whole process is secure. We picked our bags at 1.00 am and saved an extra night stay.

3) Friendly Staff, Staff guides you well and know the local layout.

4) Decent breakfast
Not a large spread of meats, but good coffee, juices, fresh fruits and breads.

5)
TV channels - Finally saw some English channels

Not so Good
1) In a party place, well the best soundproof walls fail at times. Till 1.30 in the night you can hear the boisterous streets.

2) TV was on old small box

Room Tip: Don't pick a room with a balcony. That will be over a street and the Madrid parties till late. T...

Excellent choice in a very central location. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Rooms are thoroughly clean and comfortable.
We got a free tapas lunch with our room rate and this great. I was expecting a drink and a couple of tapas but no; got a whole range of tapas which was excellent quality.
My only criticism is that the breakfast area of the restaurant is just not big enough to accommodate everyone and it is a bit of a free for all.The 'machine' coffee was poor quality.
I would definitely stay there again especially as the price is very reasonable for what you get, I will just forego the breakfast and eat out.

Room Tip: If staying at the weekend I would recommend staying on the top floor to minimise the noise which you...

This hotel is a 3-star hotel. The rooms are quite spacious and it looks like they have all been refurnished recently. If you open the windows, you will hear a lot of noice: at 04:00 AM, the garbage is collected, people are going out etc. Thank god for the good isolation and the air conditioning.
The breakfast is okay, with very good coffee.
The personnel is very friendly. They deserve 5 stars.

The location is perfect: 200 metres from the center of Madrid (Puerto del Sol) and 5 minutes from Plaza Mayor.

The hotel was a great surprise. We booked trhough web and when we reached the hotel earlier than expected and earlier than check in time they gently arranged us a room without charging for it.
The hotel was very well located in the best area for a tourist to be in Madrid. Very close to Sol and walking distance (for walking lovers) of most interesting places in Madrid.
The breakfast, in my opinion, was much better than other hotels in Europe for similar price.
The only remark I'd add is that internet did not work all the time for me.
I'll stay there next time for sure!
