The accomodation was very clean and the two ladies that run the hostel were very nice. The location was very convenient as the hostel was situated right in the city centre and we had a wonderful stay in Madrid.

My trip to Spain was great, i got to go sight seeing while spending time with my family and the hotel was great. the hotel was clean and quiet, it was also very beneficial to the distances i traveled. not only that but the hotel looked very nice and provided nice service.

If you want a place to sleep and shower, this place is fine. If you want a hotel feel to your room, go elsewhere!

For the price, i was pleasantly surprised with what we got - small room but with a decent clean bath / shower and comfortable twin beds. There was a TV, wardrobe, Aircon and 1 Euro "per use" safe. It is on the 4th floor but there is a lift (but not suitable for disabled person as there is still one set of stairs to climb)

One minor problem was the lack English speaking staff and the "reception" was often empty.

It is well located and although it is true that there were some prostitues working by the tube station (3 mins away), but it always felt safe as the area is so busy.

I stayed in a single room with shower room ensuite. It was passable, but not very inspiring. I didn't feel that my belongings would be particularly safe so I had to hide my valuables. The staff were helpful enough and I was allowed to leave my luggage there on my last day so that I could explore Madrid before leaving. It's on a very trendy street Fuencarral and there is a starbucks just up the road and a million shoeshops! However, just 5 mins walk the other way is a road with sex shops, so not so secure after dark. The bed was a bit lumpy and the view was non-existent. If you want a very cheap place to stay with absolutely no frills, go here. I would recommend Hostal Barrera instead, the rooms were brighter and larger (near the rail station Atocha and 2 mins walk from Museo Reina Sofia ), the place was more occupied and not so dingy. Still have to climb stairs though! I chose Los Alpes because another person in our group booked in there, but I think I would look carefully on tripadvisor in future before booking!

This is a typical hostel on the 4th (I think) floor of a building. It is located very centrally, it is walking distance to pretty much everything (center of madrid is not that big). Single room was very clean but also very small.
The street at night is kind of funky. When I left at 4 in the morning for the airport, I met many prostitutes and other weird people there.
I would say this is a great place for young people who want cheap and centrally located accomodation.
2 more things: there is an elevator and people there don't speak anything else than spanish.

A well located hostal located in an office building. You have to take the lift to the 4th floor to check in . Make sure ahead of time that somebody will be there or you may be sitting awhile for check in (POSSIBLY ALL NIGHT) The staff doesn't speak English so know a little Espanol, afterall this is Spain.
The rooms are compact yet very clean the showers enclosed in the rooms look like one you would see on a space capsule.
The rooms have televisions with your basics enclosed as well
(towels, closet, hangers, telephone book) This Hostal is closer to the Gran Via train station than any other. You're about 0.3 km
from the train station or about a 5 minute walk.Keep your keys
with you at all times as well. They can book a tour for you yet again know a little spanish to speak to them. The staff works mostly thru the daytime afternoon hours so prepare to notify if arriving in the evening. This is not a bad place at all I recommend it definately. It is very close to downtown right on the edge of the Red Light District as well, yet it is safe this area along with all
around Madrid on the most part. The hostal does not have a restaurant yet that's not a problem as there are many Tapas & fast food places in the area.
