I was curious about this hotel and decided to stay 1 night before we flew out of Madrid, The location was not the best as it was 20 min subway ride from the center of the City (although close to the subway station.) But it is closer to the airport, and they had convenient free shuttle service to the airport. All staffs were efficient and courteous. We stayed in Marc Newson designed room on the 6th floor. The design was sharp and nice, but at the expense of some functionality. Some cabinet doors did not stay open, and there was not sufficient counter space in the bathroom (so the supply was placed on the rim of bathtub). For some reason we could not control air conditioning, either. It was also a bit strange that the prices of breakfast and room service were expensive compared to the price of the room (which I found to be mid-range). While it was an interesting experience, I would not use it for an extended stay.

Room Tip: Study the website and decide floor you want to stay, as they were designed by various architects.

Dear BrooklynGirl1121,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience at the Silken Puerta América, with Tripadvisor’s users.

We are glad to hear that you were happy with our staff and that in general, it was an interesting experience for you

Our hotel has 12 different floors and some of the designs are more adequate for long stays than other, we use to suggest our guests which kind of room is the most appropriate depending on their needs, so if our guest is going to stay with us for a long period, we will suggest the rooms that offer more storage facilities and functionality.

Thank you very much again for your comments, we really appreciate them very much.

Yours faithfully,

This hotel is amazing every floor decorated by a world famous architect and all worth a stay. We stayed on the fourth floor, the only one that was designed after the architects won a competition to design a floor and it was brilliant!

Speaking with the waiters they all recommended the first floor, for which you pay an additional 50€, and maybe next time we will try it as the foyer does look impressive.

Swimming pool area was very good, great views and the club on the top floor is also quite good! Parking is an additional 20€ for 24h. Metro Cartagena and Avenida de América are also at a walking distance.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that likes architecture, or those that like unique hotels! Loved it!

This is an amazing hotel! We picked the floor designed by Sir Norman Foster and it didn't disappoint. The staff here are fabulous, and it has a secure car park. We found the breakfast a little expensive but there are lots of cheaper alternatives nearby. Madrid's excellent metro system is only 200 metres away.

Fantastic place to stay, bit away from the centre but good public transport links. Breakfast not included and rather expensive. Some good local cafes nearby. I don't know why I have to write at least 200 characters to review this hotel. trip advisor pah!!!!

Room Tip: Not much happening near hotel.

To anyone who has remotest interest in contemporary architecture, Silken Puerta America is like a pilgrimage. I was lucky enough to sleep in a room designed by Zaha Hadid. The other floors and their rooms are designed by manor architects such as Norman Forster and Jean Nouvel who also designed the whole building.

My room had a white cave like feeling and the bathroom was like a white rock curved by a constant flow of water.

In the night time, each floor is lit up differently and must be seen and visited.

During the weekend, the top floor becomes a chic night club. The ground floor restaurant has an amazing breakfast and dinner.

A must.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the floor of Zaha Hadid if you want a wild natural experience.
