“Our stay at the Las Cortes”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

My wife and I stayed two nights at this hotel as part of our week long trip in Spain. I found the hotel a little hard to find initially, but that is more due to the nature of the street signage in Spain than the hotel itself.

We were allowed to check in early as we had just arrived from the US and that allowed us to get some much needed rest. The rooms are small, but clean and the free wifi is very nice to have. Plenty of space in the bathroom and everything worked fine with the exception of the drain which was clogged up and made for some ankle deep showers.

I would recommend staying on the courtyard side of the hotel (inner rooms) so that you have very little noise issues. The streets in Spain are right upon the buildings and the noise can go on very late in some places.

The location of the hotel is very handy for the museums and park (Retiro) which are within an easy walk. All in all a good stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard room

We booked this hotel through Agoda travel planning and got an excellent rate. For the price we payed we were scared what the hotel would be like but it turned out to be excellent! Large, spacious room and bathroom. AC that worked well (it's hot in August). EXTREMELY friendly and helpful staff! The hotel is walking distance to just about everything you want to see. Very close (1 block) to one of the main Plaza's that had lots of nice restaurants. Daily room service... Honestly cannot say enough good things about thsi hotel. I did a lot of researching before choosing a hotel and could not have been more satisfied... if I were to go back I would absolutely stay there again. Stop looking at reviews and choose this hotel! You will not be disappointed. Hotel is also in a quiet location. Barcelona and Madrid never sleep!

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor which worked well.

Great location, walking distance to the places we wanted to visit-- Reina Sofia Museum, Prado, Buen Retiro Park and even to the train station (for our day trip to Toledo). Rooms were typically small European size but comfortable and attractively styled. Good restaurants within a block in either direction, a late-night bodega around the corner and a laundromat too (which we used). Also the hotel is near main roads, but on a relatively quiet side street and our rooms were really quiet, which was important to us. Breakfast selection was more than ample and high quality.

Stayed for four nights in August 2011. Our room was stunning (102, huge, our own pillars and ceiling fresco!) - probably one of the best we have stayed in. The location can't be beaten in central Madrid (quiet but easy walking distance to main sites). The value was amazing even without a free additional bed for our 10 year old. Only downsides were car parking - local public car park is a steep 28 euros a day - and aircon underpowered for enormous room

Great location. Close to cool restaurants, a metro stop and Plaza Del Sol. Clean boutique hotel with some character. We got a great deal on the room but we did not eat anything nor have a drink here because the prices were outrageous. Even the mini bar was surprisingly much more expensive than any other Hotel on our trip. This Hotel had great, free, WiFi but don't expect to use a house computer for free. You have to swipe your credit card. You are better off finding the internet cafe around the corner that charges a fraction of what they want to charge you. No big deal. I still would recommend.
P.S. The bed was HUGE! A rarity for Europe.

Good Location, within walking distance of the main areas of interest. The hotel is clean and pleasant, and the breakfast included was good and varied.
