“So Central, So quiet, So good”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

My wife and I stayed four nights in early November, having booked the hotel on previous Tripadvisor reviews. The hotel was right up to expectations: central position convenient to walk to the Prado and Reina Sofia museums in one direction, and the Royal Palace in the other; quiet depite being in the old town and within minutes of bars and restaurants; spotlessly clean; helpful, pleasant staff; several nice touches including complementary water on arrival. The standard room that we had was well-appointed, but not over large -- but had the main attraction for both of us - a bath as well as a walk-in shower. A great all-rounder.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear of the hotel which was very quiet.

Traditional hotel in a central location. Communal areas and bedrooms very clean and well maintained. Smartly dressed and helpful staff. Didn't eat or drink in the hotel other than breakfast which was a buffet with a good selection. We had Room 205 (Premier) which had a huge bed, bathroom with shower and bath, good lighting with magnifying mirror so easy to put on your makeup/shave etc... Good soundproofing.

Dear guest,

We are really grateful for your nice words. As far as we know, you were in one of our Premium rooms. Next time, do not hesitate to make a reservation for one of our Junior Suite rooms, with the magnificent frescos on the ceiling and the old furniture. You will feel transported to another time, but with the advantages of a modern hotel. Thank you again for your compliments. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards.

We had been apprehensive about booking a hotel for five nights on a first visit to Madrid, but the Catalonia las Cortes turned out to be the ideal choice. We could not have found a better combination of location, comfort, and price. Many additional details make this a truly "classy" place, including an attentive staff, housekeeping with touches of hospitality, a modern marble bathroom, and a sumptuous buffet breakfast. We will dream of returning!

Room Tip: Room 403, while looking out on Calle del Prado, is high enough to be quiet (and to have a view: see...

A very nice hotel walking distance from all the main must see places in Madrid, the Prado Museum, the Puerta del Sol, and all historic center milestones, restaurants and shops.
Breakfast is a feast, with delicious and abundant food.

We just spent two nights at the Catalonia Las Cortes and were thoroughly happy with our choice. It was our first visit to Madrid and the superb staff and lovely rooms started our weekend off well. Great location - we walked everywhere - and also enjoyed the squares & rioja wine! We will be back & will definitely stay at the Catalonia Las Cortes. Agree too that the breakfast buffet at 12 euros was a bargain. Thank you!

The location of this little jewel within 5-10 minutes walking distance of all tourist sites, restaurants and nightlife in Madrid makes it ideal. We had a junior suite, nothing junior about it as it is huge (the red room on photos, absolutely stunning) and you feel like a king gazing up at your original 18th century hand painted ceiling. I’ve never had such an enormous bed. Being in the heart of the city means no views, but also surprisingly no noise. If you want a romantic getaway in Madrid, this is the place to go.
We will definitely go back and have already recommended to friends.

Room Tip: Try the junior suite, it's huge

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. The hotel is a nice boutique hotel. The staff were wonderful, especially Juan was very helpful with directions and suggestions. The bartenders were also very friendly and provided great service. The room was a good size for a european hotel room, the AC worked well and bathrooms quite large and everything was clean. The location was perfect and you can easily walk to both the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and the Prado. I would definitely stay here again.
