“Definitely not a 4-star hotel.”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Stayed in this hotel for three nights. Upon check-in, we were given a WiFi code, free for the duration of our stay. After 48 hours, the code expired. Went to the front desk to ask for a new code. We were given a new code alright, but not without an additional charge of 3.50 euros (even after explaining we were given free WiFi access for three full days when we checked-in). Requested an iron and ironing board around 8 AM. I had to make a second request that night. It finally arrived the following day. Surprise! The ironing board was broken so I had to improvised by placing it flat on the chair's arm rests. Be careful not to slip when exiting the tub/shower due to accumulated water on the floor. The partial shower/tub glass barrier did not make sense. Hotel should consider replacing the partial glass barriers with full sliding shower doors for customers' safety. The night (afternoon/early morning) club next door is ALWAYS crowded.

On to the good parts - centrally located withing 5-10-minute walking distance of the Retiro Park and the three museums - Prado, Reina Sofia & Thyssen-Bornemisza. Atocha Railway station (Madrid Puerta de Atocha) is across the street - very convenient if traveling to Sevilla, Barcelona or a day trip to Toledo. Two metro stations nearby - Atocha and Atocha Cercanias. Within 15-20 minute walk to Plaza Mayor and Mercado de San Miguel. The rooms were clean and spacious. Best time to check-in - late in the afternoon (6:30 P.M.) Best time to check-out - early in the morning (5 A.M.)

Room Tip: A room on the 6th floor away from the elevator was very quiet. WiFi reception was good.

This is your typical massive bus tour stop hotel. You will see hundreds of tourists in the lobby. Wifi is patchy and you generally have to pay for it. 5.5 additional euros for what we call "continental breakfast" - coffee juice pastry. Good location nr the Prado and Parque del Buen Retiro. In case you are wondering why 8,000 drunk teenagers are right outside the hotel until 7am, it is because one of the largest nightclubs in madrid is next door. however the hotel did have good sound proof windows - good noise control overall. the rude abrasive man on early am desk duty refused to open the gym for me at 6:45am, I guess that was still night time for him. So I braved the partyers and smelly streets (yes from boozing kids using them as an outdoor toilet) and did a run the in the beautiful nearby park. Very long wait at check in - heavily over burdened staff for a hotel of this size.

We booked a standard double room and it was spacious and very comfortable. Good sized bathroom and very clean. Very helpful staff. Well located to city attractions. Would definitely recommend a stay here as it was extremely good value for money. Very close to the railway station and we could easily have walked to the hotel on arrival as the hotel literature suggests, however we took a taxi as we're not sure. We got a 'scenic' tour and 10 minutes plus and about 15€ later we arrived!! It gave us a laugh when we walked to the station a couple of days later (taking about 5 minutes) to get a train to Toledo for the day. That is a wonderful place to go and is not to be missed if you have the time. Also the San Miguel markets in Madrid are a great experience. An easy walk from the hotel, although it is uphill. We didn't mind that at all. A couple of gorgeous fabric shops along the way if you like fabric as I do!! Also ate at Sobrino de Botin and had a fantastic night. You must book though.

Room Tip: Our room number 518 overlooked Atocha Street and was still quiet ... Absolutely no problems with noi...

Very nice hotel, good location but we didnt like the fact that they charge for every thing ! no free wi fi although in 9 different hotels we stayed in spain, thay all offered us free wi fi .Here they charge 3.5.euro for 24 hours and even in the lobby it is not free ! Furthermore, they even charge for weighing the luggage in the lobby.

The hotel is very nice. It is a busy hotel; however, the rooms are small, very clean and quiet, as long as you are not in one of the rooms facing Achota (the Main Street). Ask for a room above the receptionists. The restaurant is slightly above average and the breakfast is above average. Service is fine within the hotel, esp. Jim at the front desk. He is British and very friendly. It is a nice location to the museums and Atocha train station which will get you everywhere within a days visit from Madrid.

If you are going to work out while you are in Madrid, DO NOT CHOOSE this hotel. The gym was a good thought for it is in a room - in the basement - which was recently remodeled, I believe. There is a fixture for cross overs, back and bench. There are only free weights. There are NO barbells, mats, balls, TV, music, security cameras, telephone and instructions on how to use the three treadmills, bike, step master and row machine and how to properly use the equipment. If I were a womyn, I would NOT use the facility. The rest rooms (no showers) are not in a secure area and, again, in the basement, with no security cameras. WiFi did not work in the basement either.

Room Tip: Choose any of the rooms above the receptionists if you want a quiet room - not facing the Main Stree...

The hotel is within a 2 minute walk of the nearest metro station, 10 minutes from the Prado and Retiro park and within a 25 minute walk of the Plaza Mayor - perfect location. The staff were very efficient and helpful and the room was of a good standard. Only downside was the cost of breakfast.

I stayed with my gf one night and the location is excellent, just a block away from the metro station and close to tourist attractions. Nice staff service and very appropriate shuttle service to airport for just €35. Awesome room and even nicer bathroom. Too bad for the wifi, too slow but I bet is a bandwidth problem cause of all the rooms. They gotta fix this to make it perfect
